Acura Legend

Depends what you mean by best. I prefer the coupes (I had 2), my favorite would be the 95 Legend Coupe LS, 6 speed manual shift. Sedan drivers liked the GS sedan. 6 speed was only offered in 94-95, maybe also 93 with the coupe only. 5 speed manual shift was offered on every Legend every year til the 6 speed came out.
I also liked the G1 Legend Coupes (87-90). I had an 88 5 speed manual shifter, great car too!
So depends on what you consider best. I say coupes, G1 or G2 and manual shifters.
Legend Data-
87-90 1st Gen, Coupes and Sedans, Base, L, LS trims.
91-95 2nd Gen, Sedans, L, LS, and GS in last year or so (94-95).
93-95 Coupes and GS sedans had upgraded Type II engine w/230hp
There's plenty of Legend sites with more complete data.

Actually I feel in love with Acura when I was in High School. I can still remember my first ride in a Legend 4dr sedan. All I could say is dam! I'm from SC so seen a Legend was like seen a NSX. well a little.
I might just purchase one just to remember a child hood dream. Thanks for the info.

I still hate Acura for debuting with such a great car, successful seller too, put them on the map, and then losing it to the mainly bland unimaginative models after that, can you say Vigor, well, I won't mention the others. Hondas' biggest planning and marketing mistakes concern the fall after the Legend, Most Acura Legend buyers, (and there were a lot) never came back.
No one in their right mind would have traded their Legend Coupe in for a G1 CL, what were they thinking? Sorry G1 drivers.

Hard to say best - I love my 6-spd '95 Coupe and protect it over my sedan simply because it is so rare, but for long trips (especially with passengers) and commuting to work I love my auto Sedan (black on black). As far as beauty I also think that the G1 coupes are beautiful and hope to buy a one someday in nice condition.
The Coupes (at least my '95) have an automatic door closer. As long as you make contact it retracts the door and closes it tight. The 94-95 LS Coupes and GS sedans have traction control. Another one of my favorite features is the electrical tilt and telescoping steering wheel - in '91 it was not included in the base or L model but by '95 it was.
My '95 Coupe feels more solidly built than my CLS even to this day. I don't have all the creaks and rattles other CLS owners are reporting but they sound worse than anything I hear in my 8 year old 96,000 mile Legend.
Since you asked I will pick - best year is the last 1995, best model is the LS coupe, and best tranny is the 6-spd manual. Best color is either Milano Red or Granada Black.

To be honest most buyer's thought they were getting the quality/performance of a legend when they purchase their first cl. I use to own a cl2.2 man that thing was slow but it was a nice car. But after a few months I realize the car wasn't a Legend. Everytime I see one on the rode I just smile b/c I knew acura was the shit back in the day. At least to me.

Well, the 2001-2003 CL-S definitely has more “bells & whistles” then the Gen II Legend and more power & technology under the hood, but the build quality is nowhere near my 91 Coupe.
In Acura’s defense…….
Keep in mind that I paid 34,000 for that car in 1991 while my CL-S was 2-Grand cheaper ELEVEN YEARS later.

Legends had cheap leather. The LS trim had real wood. I also liked the seat belt presenter, miss that in the CL. I liked the way the clock would light up when you pushed the clock button when the car was off. The CL clock stays on but you can't see it at night if the car is off.
I think the Legend engine being longitudinal made the car feel more stable and solid than the CL.
I was a Legend coupe nut. If I had ever found a low miles 95 coupe with 6 speed, that is what I would still be driving. My 95 coupe was an automatic so I sold it for th3 6 speed CLS.

That and the previously mentioned SELF-CLOSING doors.
When the longitudinal engine design first debated in 1991 there were rumors of an upcoming 4WD model in the works.
It never happened after sales faltered because of the ever increasing price.

Not a wide variety of manufacturers though....every pimped out Legend is a permutation of a couple combos.

Legends are beautiful cars. I had a 94L (some weird green), my brother had a 94LS coupe (white pearl), mom now has a 94GS (Black), but before all this we started with another 94L (emerald green). I have CL-S but i still like taking the Legend out every so often because it was my first love

I had a 91 Legend Sedan. It was my first car and I would still be driving it now if the engine hadn't croaked. I got the CLS since my family couldnt share one car to drive around while we went looking for another engine. That car made me love big body sedans My parents still cant let go of it since its still in such good condition

I've still got an 89 Coupe 5 speed. I got it used 8 years ago with 24K on it, now it's got 120k. It's my winter beater now. It's not a beater, it's still solid but it just doesn't have the power of the CLS. When I first saw it for sale on a lot, I was with a friend. When I looked inside and saw the stick, I told her to look at my new car. I got it the next day. It was a great move up from my 87 CRX (still have that too).
Anyway, I still love that car too. No mods, all original. Like most of the 1st gen, it did rust at the gas filler door. I had it fixed but it's going again.
I still drool over the 2nd gen coupe 6 speeds though.
