Acura involved in fatal drag race in SF

Doesn't look like a CL, but described as a 'black late-model Acura' in which the passenger was killed.

That's so messed up.... you can actually see the blood on the front of the street car. I'm glad I have no urges to ever race.....

I am pretty sure it was after the collision between Muni and the car... the 16 year old only had a permit.. and should not even have been driving the car if not with a 25+ year old adult in the car.

I knew this boy, Sergey Shatsman, personally. He was the 18-year-old passenger that didn't survive the accident.
I'll be contacting his family today.

God rest his soul.

I am not going to lie to you guys, I will still race my car now and then. The difference is I only race when there is NO traffic and I am alone. I would kill myself if I crashed a race and killed a passenger of mine or an innocent bystander. I don't understand why people race their cars with passengers??????

Really scary shit , but this is 100% drivers fault. Pure stupidity, how go and race on the little San Fran streets? I am familiar with the streets of SF in the Sunset disctrict and there is no way in hell anyone should travel faster than 45mph on them. But, this kid ran a stop sign as well. I feel really bad for his family and the family of the passenger.

I'm with ya too. You wanna race and kill yourself, fine. I do it all the time. Just not on public roads. Hell, my mom and dad drive on public roads. You know what I'd do if some fuckhead crashed into them and killed them????

Racing is fine as long as you do it where everyone is a willing participant. Whenever there are crashes, the people who die are the innocent ones. Fucking sucks...

I also knew the kid who got killed in that accident. I used to be friends w/ his sister.
I also know the guy who the car was racing with.

First of all, the reporters don't know $hit. They were not drag racing. One car was following the other. The car that was in front (the one that got into the accident), just flew through a two way stop sign into a street that usually has a good amount of traffic. The street car had the right of way and got derailed after he hit the car.

The train dragged the for about half a block before slamming the car into a parked eclipse. Last night I talked to the guy he was racing with and he said that the car NEVER EVEN TOUCHED THE BRAKES!! The train had a big metal connector on the front of it where other train cars attach. That is what tore the car into shreds.. The cops had to cut the roof off the car to get the guys out.

The driver was in shoulder surgery last night and has serious mental trauma. I got there about 40min after the accident happened. I don't think i have ever, in person, seen a car that looked like that. It looked like someone put a piece of dynamite into a aluminum can.

May the kid who past away rest in peace.

By the way, for those of you who haven't figured out what kind of a car it was from the pic, it was a '94 4-door legend.

Because sometimes it's the passenger that encourages the race.

Still, a tragic incident. Sorry to hear about it.

My brother is EMS/Fire Dept and he has to see this all the time. I can't image how f*cked up he is having to make these runs/calls.

You race on the streets, you take your chances. It's not racing on the street that kills...it's ignorant driving....stoplight to stoplight...the only law your breaking is speeding...look ahead, that's all!! That kid ran a stop sign...IMO,he deserved it!!!( I do feel bad, but hey, that's life) Happens all the time in SF....people run stoplights and stuff and there are no consequences....hope the rest of those redlight runners see this and we think twice about running a redlight or stop sign.

Especially whene you have passengers in the car......The kid who got killed had nothing to do w/ the way the driver was driving.

If your racing like a maniac.....be alone in the car so shit like this innocent death does not occur; so only the one responsible goes to the grave.

I lived in San Francisco for 11 years, just moved out a year ago. I know the streets and those trains (street cars). 60 mph on those streets is DEADLY.
