Acura History

Is there a website or database that has a full Acura history? Like when it was implemented, how it came out, the full product line with details and special notes about each car? I'm just curious about the brand that made my car, more so about the 'legend of the Legend' and what the Vigor actually is.....

Anyone?

Full Acura History-

1986
Honda created the 'premium' Japanese car segment with the introduction of the successful Acura Legend model in the US.

1996
Acura dropped the Legend name, (it's success overshadowed the brand's name), and has offered mostly non-descript models since.

Newcomers Lexus and to some extent Infiniti took over this segment. Acura has never reclaimed it's initial success in the segment it created.

Other notable Acura vehicles - NSX.
Un-notable vehicles - Vigor, 1st gen CL, TL, SVX.

I believe it should be SLX. SVX belongs to Subaru.

Thanks for the correction.
With the 01 CL/TL & 04 TL, I think Acura is starting to get back to offering good choices. Not so sure about the 4 cylinder TSX/RSX, great cars but Acuras? Honda is blurring the line between Honda and Acura too much.
I understand Acura's approach to offer cheaper cars than Lexus and I like that, but in many buyer's minds Acura is not differentiated enough from the excellent Hondas to warrant spending more.

Minch00 - you might check out some Legend sites, seems like I saw some Acura history on one of them.

here's one site-

or go to Acura.com click About Acura, Click Heritage.

Their 'Full' history is like mine, no mention of the early CL, TL, Vigor. They do mention the Legend, NSX, MDX, and new TL.

How about the Integra? seemed to last pretty long '86-'01. Sold pretty well. "Grew" pretty well - 3 generations and a "spinoff" in the Type-R.

Yea, it was a successful car, but is it really a luxury car, as Acura was supposed to be.

I often wondered about the vigor as there is one down the street from me, not the best looking car, but I wondered where it was in the time line of cars...

I got my first Integra in June 1987 in Texas. When I moved to Minnesota with it, the brand new Acura dealership there (the only one in the state) had never even seen one.

Vigor was Acura's attempt at a 5 cylinder, like the Audis had. Came out in the mid to late 90s., 96?
