Okay for performance aspects my 03 cl-s will have toyo t1-s for a good launch, and more importantly aem cold air intake, and alpha werks headers. If I was to race a stock g35 coupe automatic, should I beat it? How about a g35 coupe automatic with z tube and stillen intake?

 

You'll be better off getting headers and then trying to run a stock G35c Auto with your CL-S Auto.

Even with that setup its still gonna be close.

Adding mods to the G doesn't help your cause at all.

 

well the reason I am asking this is because my friend has a g35 coupe auto, and it doesnt seem that fast as i raced a g35 sedan modded well who was also my friend, and he said me and the g35 coupe were about the same distances from him. The G coupe ran a 15.0 on the track in like 83 degree weather and high humidity. I think with the alpha werks headers I should be able to beat him.

 

Well the autos are definitely slower then the 6mt's no doubt of that.

And I with ya, once you get headers you'll be good to go.

 

with i/h u should be able to edge him off with a good launch, dont try him w/o headers

 

you'll take easy G coupe (5AT stock) with toyo/i/h (assuming good launch).
you should also edge him out with z-tube/stillen

I think it's still a driver's race when you have a stock g35 coupe auto. vs. cl-s auto.

 

are you serious? i had i/h and still lost to a g35c. drivers race? and the other guy didnt really know how to drive his car, even though it was auto. i think a 6speed cls could have a drivers race with an auto coupe, but even there i would still give the advantage to the g. they are much faster than you think.
go to a track and see their times and compare them to yourselves. imo, you need i/h/p to beat an auto everytime, otherwise, you will lose 90% of the time.

 

I disagree my friend who had a 2.3 60 in his G ran a 15.0 at the track and he ran his CL as well (same driver) with a 2.4 60' in a 15.2 in the same track and weather.

Did your friend brake torque or just mash the throttle. Manumatic or just leave in auto? Most G coupe owners do between 14.8 and 14.5 (personal bests). A few have gone 14.2-14.5 stock but could be factory freaks (with really good weather conditions). The best way to launch a G-auto is to brake torque to about 1700 rpm and shift using the manumatic. Leaving it in D will shift too early and be off about 0.2 seconds. On average, the G auto is faster than a CLS auto but close enough where shifting actually matters (yes, even in auto form)

 

my cousin has a stock g35 coupe he ran a 14.3 its an auto. i have an 03 cls with aem intake on the same day my best was a 14.5 ,,, there torque is what has us beat ,but my best is a 14.4 was on a differant day

ur auto 03 CLS with header and intake and toyo t1s vs ur freind g35c auto michelin pilot sport (assuming he has the wheelpackage)

and btw: ur friend cant drive ..... 2.3 60' on a RWD AUTO car is kinda ridiculous. 15.0 1/4 is even worse for g35c auto or not.

 

Temp must of been reeeeaaaal high w/humidity. Autos are damn consistent in getting under 15s. After all, not like there's a clutch

All I get is 2.3's in my CLS 6 speed at the track. I only manage a 14.5. I suck at the track. Sounds like your friends do also. Bad 60's = bad launch with wheel hop/wheelspin

 

Well since i used to own a CL, and now i have a G35auto, i can tell you this... first off, coupe is not just like a 4door, 2door is much more responsive, and i cant say much more faster, but it feel more quicker in respone and stuff... now this is wat i think, yes, CLS auto with full mods (my friend's CLS have Intake, header, exhaust, pullies, and VAFC).. well, we ran several times.. we are pretty much side by side, and mine is completely stock.. and he has some heavy 18s.. so maybe that slow him down a bit... Well, i think the race is not much far apart, THATS IF YOU RACE FROM 0-60! we ran on the freeway, the CLS 3rd gear is pretty quick... but the main puller from G35 is on the freeway, once a CL hit 3rd end, about 105-110mph, thats the end of the race.. CLS auto 4th and 5th just suck, we all know that, so my best advise is, get the G down slow, and prepare them to pull from behind at higher speed.... ^ ^

, that early of of shift would take ya out of vtec, def have to take it past 7k

 

my frend has a g35 fully loaded and i raced him with juss an intake and it was pretty much dead even or i may have had a lil lead on him. we raced several times as well. but wen i got my exhaust on i could see myself slowly on 3rd and 4th pulling away on him. we even raced on the freeway hitting 145mph and i still would pull on him.

If u have an auto CLS.... u cant PULL NOBODY with ur 4th ....

 

Don't make such a blanket statement, I use 4th gear to pass on the highway daily.

 

Who knows...it could have happened. You weren't there...what if the G35 just let off. Everybody will post their kills but when they get killed, its less likely to be posted so you shouldn't be surprised. I've run several CLSs on the highway and pulled on them but a street race really doesn't prove anything. He could have let off early or I could have jumped before he had a chance to downshift or a million other little things. Just the other day I was badly badly violated by a Vette I was also challenged by an Audi A4 and I let off at 4k because I thought I saw a cop. He probably thought he totally creamed me

 

well for me it did do something or either dat my driving may have gotten better but i doubt it coulda got dat better. and yes i was still pulling at 145 and im sure of it cuz we were racing on the 5 freeway in irvine back to cerritos the whole way and we hit 145-150 more then couple times. now iono bout how the 4th gear is on autos but on m/t it still pulls for me.

 

ok so you have a 6speed CLS... not auto/SS

but still CLS is limited at 147 MPH and u will need some crazy mods with govern limiter removed to go anything beyond that.

so when you are going 145MPH.. ur not pulling.. you are just struggling to reach 147mph

Also G35c is limited at 155MPH... so basically you guys are just all struggling at those speed but eventually the g35 should win...

and btw: how dumb are you racing at 140+MPH on a public freeway?????

i dont think it is limited at 145 cuz some1 on dis forum said he hit 160 wit cls and im pretty damn i sure i went over 145 couple times and u say iss dumb hitting 145 mph while racing but id say iss juss pure all out fun haha call me crazy if u want but watevers
