You can't really tell while driving. The car may FEEL slower than usual, but you probably won't know for sure by just driving.

Park it, pop the hood and check it. That's the only real way to tell, unless you want to run it on a dyno.

Wouldn't you hear or in the case of VTEC, not hear it?

Huh? Not sure what you mean.

I never heard mine opening or closing. Can you?

Are you confusing the actuator with the VTEC?

Actually, we were talking about hearing it while DRIVING, not while looking under the hood.

Next time, read the thread before you start your crap.

Probably.... wouldn't the actuator start the whole VTEC process and consequently the roar that you hear. If no actuator, no VTEC or am I missing the entire process?

Yeah, I think you are missing it here.....

The actuator is for changing in intake path of the plenum. It is entirely unrelated to the variable valve timing.

Like Jayru said-- you can hear the clicking of the actuator with your head under the hood. But if you can hear it from inside the car while driving, then you've got dog ears!!

Nah, I'm too old for dog ears. Now I'll worry about the problem everyone else seems to be having. Thanks for clearing it up. You have mail.
