Sorry.. Fabvsix what Acura dealership did you go to again to have this looked at? Do you know if production models 10/00 or later have problems with the actuator?

Glad to hear it worked out. BTW the part is called the Bypass Valve Actuator in the parts catalog and can be found in the engine section.

Not sure its early production cars, but probably so........when your car doesn't ROAR anymore, simply check it out ! It's not over yet, so I'll give you an update when I get the car.
Thanks Wayne for all your assistance !

Teh actuator is what opens up the butterfly in the intake allowing much more air in. It opens at 3800 rpm on a Type S. The premium doesn't have one. Vtec will still switch over, but without the extra air, it won't be as powerful.

Just consider your driving a 225 hp instead of a 260 hp.

If the actuator is dead...
will the car fall flat on its face when it hits 3800, will the pull feel the same as it did before 3800 or will the car suddenly pull hard?

My car seems to pull at the same level, whether I'm at 3800, below or above.

I opened the hood yesterday and saw the actuator spindle turn when the car got to 3800. I'm assuming it's working properly!?

Thanks Wayne! I've archived this topic.

Rob, if you see the actuator spindle move then it's working correctly
