Actuator Byp. Valve Broke!
Actuator Byp. Valve Broke!
After running at the track last saturday my car was making this weird noise that lasted about 2 seconds after turning the key in the ignition.....after a while my friend and i figured out that it was the Actuator Bypass Valve that was making the scratching sound. (we figured that it was that part because after unplugging it the sound ceased) and because we could feel the vibrations it made during the scratching sound. so today i took it into the dealership and they were sooo nice to me. this guy came out and i told him about the sound and how i knew what it was and he said ok and listened to it once and believed me. he then proceeded to order another one for me for FREE! he said they they should have it in in about 3 or 4 days and that they would call me so that i can bring my car in and have them put the new one in. in case your wondering...the Act. Byp. Valve is located right behind the engine on top. it says its part name on it real small.. does any one have any idea what this thing does? the acura dealership is AWSM! Bob Howard Acura in Edmond OKlahoma!
it open a valve under your plenum cover located directly ontop of your engine that 6-12 rectangular peice of aluminum with 10+ bolts holding it in place ...at 3800 rpm the acctuator opens the valve under that plate helping to extend the torque curve by utilizing the hemholtz pricipal.
..now if you ever sell your wheels look me up
