so i was going up the grapevine in the middle lane inside of lebec, some mofo in a white astro van in the fast lane decided to merge into my lane without looking over his shoulder. i didn't notice the van merging until it was trading paint with my CL, so i nudge to my right, and very slighty swiped the car in the slow lane, so i counter steer and oversteered, causing a spin out. the car does a 180 and my passenger side slams into the center divider while NO ONE stops. i then realize that im actually at a 135 degree, where oncoming traffic was headed for my driver side door. i slammed on the gas and hugged the divider some more to get out of traffic which didn't seem to slow down at all. i had to wait a good 15-20 minutes for traffic to clear up before i could get off at the next exit. the damages were a lot worse than i had initially thought they were when it happened. this all took place around 3 oclock in the morning too. was stuck for hours til a flatbed towed me home.

they totaled the cl i bought. and i spend only $1500 on parts and paint. it would be around $2500 if they took it to a dealer. but still. parts for our cars are expensive and the insurance company goes oem on all.

 

i think its salvageable..new lights, bumper, hood, paint??

 

Well the rear quarter panel...that isn't really a replaceable part.

the adjusters coming tomorrow to come check it out, my opinion is it will be totalled. the front and rear tail lights busted, both doors pop when being opened, the fender actually goes underneath the hood, the hoods popped up, the trunk cant close, the rear quarter panel's gonna cost like 6oo alone, not including painting and labor.

from my estimation, its gonna cost somewhere around 2500 for the parts, then there's painting, and labor, i'd say somehwere around 5-6 g's total.

ALL thats plus there's the fact that the rear passenger side tire along with the front passenger side tire are both bent inward at the top. im like 90% sure its total.

 

hell yes, im glad i have full coverage too, the tow from lebec to fresno wouldve costed me more than 1,000 bucks. haha, the tow truck driver said i was lucky, because shit like that that happens on the grapevine couldve easily been fatal.

 

yeah, the van swiped me a little on the driver side door, enough to make the door pop when i open it. hope that mofo burns.

 

actually, i took a look undernaeth the hood, and it seems like the radiator got pushed closer to the headers on the passenger side than the driver side, so it's slanted, and then theres the fact that the rims are standing really slanted too.
fuck my life. haha.

 

Suspension gets to be VERY expensive when body shops get into it. My friend slid sideways into a curb in his Corolla last week going 10-15mph, no body damage but we've been working on it for a week trying to get it right... so far we've replaced the lower control arm, ball joint, outer tie rod end, drive shaft/CV joint, the wheel itself, the strut, and the spindle.

Hey, sorry about your loss. Anytime you can walk away from an accident, you should be thankful. Grab the 9K, get another Acura and stay on the forum. BTW, some insurance co. let you buy back the car if you want to keep it and get it repaired yourself. They'll give you partial payment and let you buy back the car. I did it with a 1999 civic I had.

 

^ Word on that. Take the money and then ask how much the buy back is... if it's like 500 bucks you can make a killing parting it out especially if you have aftermarket parts.

 

the insurance company said that i cant get the 9, all because the damage on the right hand side was done by a third party, and that it was my responsibility to get their information, sucks when its a hit and run.

so they only gave me 6300... that sucks bad, motherf'ers. i wanna get a 6sp CL, but they're outta my price range, and i don't really wanna make anymore payments. we shall see though, don't wanna down grade into a eg or ek, was thinking about getting an old school celica, the '75 model, i love them.

however, if i was to get another car and not care sooo much about payments, options are the CL 6spd, or a s2k. gl luck to me.
