AC recirculation button going off by itself ?

Anyone have this problem or know why it does this on the 2002 CLS ? I live in Houston and it is hot as fock....
I always have the AC button on recirculation cuz I dont like smelling the exhaust of the car in front of me. But after driving for a little while , I notice that sometimes it switch automatically over to fresh air....or the recirculation light will go off by itself....

is it suppose to do this ? or is it suppose to stay on recirculation until I switch it to fresh air ? Do I have a defect on my hand ?
Thanks in advance.

it's supposed to do that.... the air gets much colder in recir mode. I know when I have mine on lets say 65 and crank it up to 72 the recir light will go off and I have to hit it again. .. it's kinda wierd and hard to explain... but its supposed to do it.

recirculation is only used when your car is really hot at first. it keeps cooling the inside air which gets colder, instead of trying to cool and dehumidify outside air. constantly recirculating cabin air isnt really good for you either, but if you wanna keep it on all the time, dont use the FULL AUTO feature, hit the A/C button, hit mode to point the air where you want it, adjust your temp and fan knobs, then hit you recirculation button and there you go. your recirculation will stay on.
