when i turn my ac on my car slows down sooo much... even after i shut it off it still seems to be stuck on that slow mode...

last night i drove without it on and BAM.. what a difference..

i know the belt has to run the ac compressor but c'mon.. i hate the ac on...

 

That shouldn't happen. I've heard on our cars the compressor shuts off at WOT so you don't lose any power. I'm pretty sure its true becuse i've gone WOT with the AC on and notice it the air from the a/c isn't as cold for a few seconds

 

Have your car checked out, I cant really notice a diffrence between when the air is on and when it isnt, fast either way.

 

It is only about a 3hp drag on the motor. You can feel it but shouldnt be as drammatic as you are saying. I remember feeling it that badly on old 4 cyl cars but not even that bad in my 91 Accord. It might be seizing up.

 

i feel it on mine, like i'm accelerating witht eh Ebrake slightly on-you know how to fix it, roll the windows down open the sunroof and shut it off!! I hate that feeling, i'd rather be 10+ degrees hotter

 

yeah it just feels a lil sluggish.. like it wouldnt throw me back in my seat...
and i like to be thrown back into my seat
