?????

To all of you 3.5 conversion experts,
Has anyone on here done a 3.5 conversion, but with a manual transmission? Also, is the cls and new tl and accord 6 speed transmission the same. I know that the acura tl trannies are lsd versus the accord that is not. The reason that i ask is because i have an 04 accord coupe v6 and i am doing the 3.5 conversion. I am using my stock heads with the j35a5 block with cls pistons. We ran into a problem. The clutch and flywheel bolt on, but my bell housing is too small for the block. Does anyone know if the cls bell housing match up to this block, and also will that housing be compatible with my tranny???
thanx,
christian

Well according to what Serge listed on v6performance.net that j35a5 wouldn't work on the 6gen av6/2gen tl/2nd gen cl and it would work on the 7th gen accord. I believe its near the end when he talks about the j35a5 and the 7gen accord. Good luck.

none of the conversions here that i have seen involved switching out the block. just rods and cam. why dont you use a CL-S block with CL-S pistons, they'll work fine with mdx cam, mdx/rl rods.

second reading sounds like you already dropped the motor in.

This should be a fun car to have. I thought they were using the RL/MDX pistions and rods, and crank in the CL-S block?

yea, i know you can use all those parts, but i thought you could reuse CL-S pistons or rods, i forget which, i thought it was pistons.

He has a 7th gen.

Adding a spacer should resolved the issue. That is the possibility discussed with my main guy at the shop.

Cocao is getting a 3.5 swap + 6speed from a CLS in his first gen from aidan. It should be done in a couple weeks apparently.

Christian,

As mentioned, adding a spacer might be a solution. Nobody here or on V6P that I know of has done J35 with 6MT swap, so our guess is good as yours. Your mechanic's incompetence especially 5 month waiting time doesn't surprise me anymore. He should try to figure out a solution that would work, bunch of shops here believe it is possible.

Good luck!

yeah, i tried calling him, but it wouldnt ring. it would only say "the nextell subscriber is being located right now," or something like that. Well, the engine and tranny is being taken tommorrow over to the machinist so he can make a plate for me.
