6spd - auto tilt down side view mirror

Well it tilts down ok when I put the CLS in reverse, but it won't come back up

Looks like a trip to the dealer for some warranty work

it is not your rearview mirror... it is your SIDE view mirror.

If you don't need it to tilt down when you reverse, just set it to one of the sides and it should not tilt down at all.

Cool, my next idea involved duct tape and a Swiss army knife.

My car did the same thing. They had to clear the memory and reset it and has worked fine ever since.

You wouldn't happen to know how they did that ??

Guess I'll have to look thru the Helms to see if there is anything on that...

Disconnecting the battery should clear the memory.

Doesn't the memory of the mirrors get set along with your Driver seat memory? I believe mine does, try clear the 1 and 2 settings and see if that helps out.

Unless.... I was smoking something that day, but I could've sworn that the last time someone drove my car and I pressed the "1" setting it reset my side-view mirrors as well.

Yep, that's the way it works.... the memory seats and mirror positions on my car work fine.

Both... the last 5 digits will tell you the prod number. You can also tell what month your car was built from the drivers door jamb sticker too (mine was built in Aug. 02). My car is number 8866 of all 2003 CL's produced (that includes the 6spds, CLS autos, and CLP's).

The part where I say "one of 217 San Marino Red 6spds" (it's a clickable link) is from Hohlake's analysis of the acura data available from the owners link...

The direct link to the thread where Hohlake (Steve) released the info is here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=125628&page=2

My 6spd was built in a batch of 12 other SMR/parchment non-nav 6spds...

8863 thru 8874 12 non Red Parch

Get the prod. number of your 6spd, and look it up in the data... There's a summary of the number of color combos w/ and w/o nav in the thread too.

Disconnected the neg. terminal. That didn't seem to do it...

I looks like when the mirror tilts down, it gets "hung up" for a split second, and then keeps going. Does the same thing on the way back up. Looks like sometimes it gets stuck in stead of hung up (returning to the normal position).

It was worth a shot, but it looks like I'll just disable the auto tilt on the SIDE mirror till I get to the dealer.
