6mt owners motor mount/header question

im planning on converting partially to the 6mtmotor mount...need to know if the change in header design for the 6mt is to make clearence for the primary rear motor mount or is it for that little shock absober looking thing?

It's not the shock absober thing cause that's on the front. The header with the bend is on the rear.

Ya, it is for the clearence for the rear shock absober. There is one in the front and one in the rear. The 6spd headers fit on the 5 A/T CL-S but the 5 A/T Headers do not fit the 6spd CL-S. I hope this helps

it is the rear. The left most part of the manifold is the one that is bent more towards the middle to make clearance. There may be a difference in the a pipe also.

If you’re not in a big hurry, I can snap a picture of mine under there this weekend.
I’ll have the car jacked up to put my snow tires on.

Sorry, but I was unable to get the info for you.

I did put my snows on last night, but I couldn’t get a clean photo from underneath the car.
There’s just too much shit under there to see the headers/engine mount from below.
I couldn’t safely crawl under the car because a friend is borrowing my jack stands right now.

Maybe a “bump” of this thread will get you the info from somebody else.

Form what I recall the upper bracket for the strut (shock absorber/damper thing) on the back of the engine is what the bend in the comptech headers goes around. The big web mount is on the other side of the header. I'll double check that tonight but I'm pretty sure that is the deal.

why not give a call to comptech and ask them why they put the bend in the rear header?

I couldn't get a clean picture but the bend is to clear the main mount. Here's a link to Carland Acura's page on the motor mount:
http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net/...prddisplay.jsp

The bend in the rear header is to clear the Rear Bracket Engine Mount in the area of the RED ARROW. If you still need a picture, let me know and I'll try this weekend when the motor is cool.

I dunno if this helps any, but I have the J32A2 in my car with a 6spd swap. The engine is running currently with 5AT headers, and there was no need for the bend at all.
