6MT clutch is crap...
I hate the clutch on my car... it kicks back a lot when you bring it up to the top and it's almost impossible for me to learn how to drive it very smoothly... it's great when I'm racing my buddies but damn this is rediculous if you can't just go cruisin' somewhere without it snapping back... I have to think to much abouteasing clutch and gas when I'm going through 1-2-3 gear shifts... lemme know if there's any way I can disable the stupid spring back motion...

Well if you just picked it up a week ago, then give it some time. The CL-S clutch is different, & you will learn how to shift it right. It's not right to say the clutch is crap, if you have only had it a week.

I know exactly what you mean. I went back to the dealer and drove the car twice with the stick before making up my mind. I had alot of muscle cars in the past, but this clutch is too "sticky" for me, so I opted for the auto. I do think though, the more experience you get driving it, the better you will do.

think before you speak.............who's talkin,........you called the clutch crap because you dont know how to drive...............its operator error not the fault of the clutch:P ...........in fact get in your car, take it back to the dealer, and beg them to let you trade it for an auto................then maybe someone who can drive a manual will buy it and not come here crying the clutch sucks because they dony know how to use it

It took me about a month to get fully hooked up with my 6sp cl-s. It is so much easier to shift than my previous MX-6. the takeup point is very low, and so it takes a ibt of delicate balance of clutch and gas, but once you've got it down, it's sheer delight.

I also agree with what some others have said: once you get your feet, legs, and brain used to the clutch, you can make gear transitions that are silkier then any auto. It's not 'unlearnable' in the least.

It doesn't matter how many of your friend's sticks you have driven. It's really about how long you have driven it....it took me 2 less than 2 weeks to get shifting and playing with the clutch to get it down to where its natural...this is on a miata...absolutely the best clutch to learn on tho...

Sorry…..after reading all this CRAP I just have to comment.
I’ve been driving stick shift cars for the last 20-years and have logged well over 450,000-miles while using BOTH feet to drive.
I’ve driven everything with three pedals from a VW Rabbit to a 24-Foot long U-Haul with "3 on the tree".
The 2003 CL-S clutch is one of the best I have driven so far.
It’s been since 1995 that I had the chance to tool around in an NSX for the day, but I seem to remember the “abruptly grabbing clutch” and tight gate was quite familiar to what’s sitting out in my garage right now.
Yes, the clutch is tricky and it takes a bit to master it, but the rewards are well worth it.
Whenever you read about a test drive of a Lamborghini or Ferrari they always seem to describe the “enjoyment” of learning to properly drive them.
The same is true of the meek little CL.
Acura did a WONDERFUL job with the CL-S Tranny and I think they made all the right decisions.
I’ve only stalled the thing TWICE so far and both times were within the first two weeks.
I’ll be adding another 100,000-miles to my 3-pedal enjoyment and loving every minute of it.

Yeah you're right that clutch is CRAP ...Why don't you let me take it off your hands.
I'll be willing to do an even trade with you, my automatic shifts very smoothly...
I'll even throw in my I/H/E & 18's.

i agree with Shawn
I started out in little 4 door Volkswagon Rabbit Diesel with 54 horsepower..LOL..WOW!!.. I loved that thing cause I got about 50 miles to a gallon of fuel....LOL... I drove a stick for the past 10 years. I drove my friends 2002 Celica the other night and then jumped into the seat of my CL-S and I almost shit my pants.. His car is junk. I almost stalled my car for the 2nd time since i bought it.. I will never go backwards when buying a new car. I expect only a Vette or M3 on my next purchase in 5 years or so. A Ford Lightning would be nice. But just relax with it, go drive alittle 4 banger stick and then jump in your car and see the big difference. Try feathering the gas and letting the clutch out slowly...How old are you anyways? you sound very young, I am guessing under 20...

Yeah
Pretty funny huh.... 1984 Volkswagon Rabbit...4 door.. 5-speed Diesel... they made them from 82-85 I think. You could opt for the gas or diesel auto or manual, 2 door of 4 both with rear hatch. The damn car is still in my family too, got over 250,000 miles on the body and 134K on the 2nd motor....LOL... My dad drives it too and from work since he works at a Chemical plant and he is not worried about the paint job getting ruined... I just laugh at him when I go visit him....

How does CLS 6spd compares to an s2k 6spd? I drove both but dont remember how the CLS felt. The s2k was very nice, good for heel-and-toeing, smooth close ratio short throw 6spd.
I would think they are similar as they are both honda intended to handle 240hp plus.

i'm not exactly sure about any of this clutch business, but i have an 03 cls 6mt, and it drove, for about this first week, beautifully. Now though, it is way too stiff and it feels as if there is just way too much pressure, CERTAINLY much more pressure than i felt the first week of driving it. i loved it the first week, now i'm getting annoyed ... oh well, i have an appointment tomorrow with service at Keyes Acura at 1:30p... wish me satisfaction... thx
