I get about 250 or so (to the 3 gallon warning light) for pure city driving (ie: almost always in traffic, rarely make it into 4th gear).

About 420 on the highway (to the warning light).

Most I've gone is 422 miles, that was using just over 14 gallons. Car averages 27.4mpg with a best of 30.1

If I put 1 gallon of gas in it, start it up, and drop it off a cliff, it MAY fall 30 miles before running out (at idle). MAYBE, on a good day.

I usually get around 24mpg...

Depending on my “throttle activity” , I’m getting 18-22MPG around town and as high as 28-29MPG on long highway runs.

Going by miles per tankfull is quite inaccurate.

When you are getting 420 miles, how fast are you going on your highway trip? Cruise on?

I've only been getting about 220-235 miles per tank, mostly city driving though.

I get about 260 to 280 before my light goes on...this is all stop and go in the city. I seldom get on the highway...well, for about 2 or 3 miles each way from work, but that's not enough to justify hwy driving.

At the half mark, the odo usually reads around 140.

Cruise control set at about 68 - 75 (depending...) and traveling on traffic-free interstates. Sixth gear.

I can believe that. I've gotten 450 or so straight HW driving no stops driving from NY to FL with the cruise set at 78. No AC. Averaged it out 1 time it was like 34mpg. That was with the Auto I had.

1650 miles on the odometer, average about 260-280 per tank that is about 12-13 gallons.

Agreed. The best MPG is with straight highway driving. As soon as you get on city streets, the MPG drops significantly.

I've never turned my automatic climate control off. It stays at 69 year round.

When the 6-speed arrived, it made my short list. It's still there, but inaction (laying in the weeds, watching, waiting) rules at the moment. Currently a FWD manual shift V-6 is parked alongside my old diesel pickup. Both get remarkable fuel efficiency. Diesel got circa 55 enroute Oregon this past summer. Toyota turned in 34.8 to/from LA during Christmas. Granted, not as classy as der CL-S..................ez

straight highway - 67 miles to/from work each way every day - have stated as much in other threads dealing with this question - just didn't see the need to peat and repeat again - 68 to 75 miles per hour. I also record each/every tankful/mileage/gallons and have the documentation to prove it and after 15K miles I get an average of 480+ miles to the tankful. end of story
