6 speed not due out until 2003
I know I am the first one to dispute anythin a dealer says, but just to ad to the rumor mill my salesman (who has always straight talked me) said the 6 speeds aren't coming out until 2003. Wait, wait, wait..........
I must say though, the salesman at my dealer in general don't know jack about Acura cars, and, in fact, cars in general. Just say the words Type R and half of them don't have a clue as to what your talking about or that there ever was an Integra Type R for that matter.
The Integra Type R is like a mythical beast, like a unicorn or something, to these guys. It can be anything and take any form. Ask one guy a question and he'll tell you it was a twin turbo 5 cylinder 2 seater capable of doing 0-60 in 4 seconds with a 200mph top speed. Ask another guy and you might get, "Huh?"

Agree with you, JZ. I'm always stunned that dealer staff know next to nothing about the cars they sell. I'm only into this stuff part time cause I'm a gearhead--they oughtta know, but never seem to. Mentioned the RSX to some dealer guys not too long ago--didnt have a clue and never heard anything about a CL-S 6 speed. Go figure
Most "auto" sales persons DO NOT sell autos they sell a "price" and many of them can't even quote a price without getting approval (which is BS) from the 'manager'.
OK so maybe 5 per cent know their product, but, obviously they would be hard to find.

You think they might need some time to rework the suspension. As it is now, the Type S's sportier suspension can barely keep the front wheels on the ground under hard acceleration. Maybe they discovered they were roasting too many front tires and scraping too many gas tanks when they dropped a manual in it. This would be a good opportunity to firm it up and lower it just a bit.
Bullshit,
I just got the new Motor Trend, and they say Acura has confirmed that they are going to offer a six speed CL for the 2002 model year, which will be coming out in the fall, with a 6 speed in the TL a year later.

Actually, just changing the front tires to the Toyos made the car (without further changes) keep the front tires glued to the ground under full acceleration.
Perhaps they will offer some better tires -- who knows?
I can think of a counter example, where someone expected more gas economy from a 6-speed manual would benefit from having the stock energy efficient tires on (MXM4s). I don't know how their crystal ball is working lately...
I hope it is true and it comes out this fall.
Also, changing the tires does keep the front tires glued down. I barely spin my fronts under full acceleration anymore. Probably should make for a perfect launch at the track this way.

Well...this is just what I know...my friend's wife took back the CL-S. And after showing him all the goodies I have in my car and how much faster it is...
He went to the dealership and threw down a deposit on a CL-S 6-speed due in October.

My guess is NOT ! I would think you'll have to order it, short in stock and will have those "goodies" mentioned, like better rubber, sportier suspension, body kit (Sema) etc......I believe it will arrive, but who knows when ! I think the price will be higher and I WILL PAY IT !

I think it was about 750 dollars less then the auto.
Coupes were hard enough for the dealer to get and the manuals were even more RARE.
