6 Speed Lust

6 Speed Lust
Everytime I start thinking about running over to Acura of Boston and trading my 01 for an 03 6 Speed, I have to stop myself and it pisses me off!!! Acura has a history of not divulging ANY information about new models until the last minute and I have this fear that if I buy an '03 manual, in '05 Acura will blow us all away with a new coupe. God damn it!!!!
Anyone else share my thoughts?

Re: 6 Speed Lust
I made the '01 to '03 CLS 6 sp switch back in Jan. I'm soooo much happier with this car over the old one. Ten times more fun to drive and is definitely faster. Go ahead and just do it, you won't regret it.

If the new TL is a 6 speed it will be much better off depreciation wise. Buying a discontinued car is usually not good on the pocket book.
eh, go get a 350z like everyone else on here
G35C6 is pretty sweet too

I have this feeling that in a few years, the CLS 6 Speed will be like the Acura Legend Coupe...extremely rare and very sought after, while the 5 speed Auto will leave potential buyers saying, "oh....the lemon."

Honestly though, I’m really not concerned with what the value of the car is right now.
When I hit 100-grand and I’m looking to sell it, as long as I get a few thousand to put towards a new vehicle I’ll be happy.
The years of pleasurable driving will be my “value”.

Buy a 6 Speed, Buy a 6 Speed, Buy a 6 Speed. Get the message.
Hey, I'm a fairly new 6 Speed owner and at first I said, boy, I wish this had rear wheel drive. I traded in an MR2 and there's a huge difference ranging from the Clutch and road handling.
I didn't like the CL-S clutch at first but after a week or two, I prefer it over my MR2 Clutch. I've missed only a few gears (gear box is smooth and tight) going from 5th to 4th (when I wanted 6th). The CL-S handles "OK" for a car its size and weight (a few inexpensive mod's will solve this issue). Best of all, there are only a few CL-S 6 speeds out there so you can be unique (2700 club or something like that).
This car is a "rush" to drive. Just do it. If a new model comes out two years from now, so what. Keep the 03 for 4 or 5 years and get an 08 CL (or what ever they call it). By then, any updates to the 05 CL (if there is one) will be on the 08 CL (if there is one).
Don't pass up this opportunity to get a car that rocks!

All cars depreciate, at least with the CL you'll be starting by purchasing at or under invoice to start with rather than buying near MSRP for a newer model. A couple fairly cheap mods and you've got a unique, well-handling, plenty-fast, luxurious, classy car. You want biased opinions? Go for it, get one just like mine!

no way no how. only one legend...
don't buy the same car for a different tranny. just wait, in 05 i'm sure you'll be glad you did.

I don't even consider the automatic and the manual in the same class. Only you can decide, since you bought the automatic you must like them. I avoid automatics if at all possible, plus the 6 speed is excellent. I drove a BMW 02 330Ci with the 5 speed manual and was not as impressed as the CL 6 speed tranny.
I say if you want the 6 speed get it. Who cares if a new coupe comes out in 2 years? That's a lot of driving in 2 years and then if you sell it you get a lot more for a 2 year old car than your older 01 with the automatic.
I always wanted a new Acura coupe to replace my Legend Coupe, but I passed on the 97, 98, 99, 01, and 02 CL's.
The 03 CLS with 6 speed was my choice worth waiting for, good luck. Drive your 01 and a 6 speed and just decide what you want.

In two years if I want a 6 speed I'll go pay 17-18K for one just as if I was buying an auto--maybe even less.
Sad, but true.

I'm not buying that...

Let's not forget this is a fully loaded, full size, $30K sports coupe with a 48 month warranty(not a fuckin Prelude Rice a Roni)... In 2 years from now, what other used cars that are equipped & perform like this will have ANY warranty left?
This is the kind of talk that fuckin cracks me up... You guys believe the end-model-hype & make it worse by repeating how bad our cars are depreciating. I look at auction numbers weekly(it's my job) & I always look for CL sales, just being curious. I RARELY EVER see these cars at Manheim Auction in PA. And when they are at auction, they always do well. Believe THAT, not the fuckin crap your Acura dealer spews into your ear when you try to trade... :pee:

if everybody waited until the 'next version' of what you're currently driving/looking at to come out "because you don't want to be obsolete after less than a year" ... you'd still be driving your mothers' Pinto. like death and taxes, if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen. either go out and get what is currently available, or sit back - wait - and take your chances. I don't think anybody who has purchased the 6spd has any real regrets ... and those who have upgraded to this model from their '01/'02's are singing praises pretty loudly. If you want one - and can find one - then you better get it before somebody else does. if you wait until the '05 ('06, '07, '08, 21xx), and they don't come out with one, you'll be very unhappy. of course, the same could be said if you get the '03 and they do come out with one in '05/'06 .... you have to live in the hear and now .... and hear and now there is an '03 CL-S with a manny tranny. this is the only truth, and anything else is total and complete bs.

I had a gold '91 legend coupe, bought the '99 titainium metallic 3.0 because it was the closest thing to the legend at the time, then traded for the '01 PDG CLs, even closer. It reminded me of the legend everytime i drove it. even the color was kind of similar. then the 6 speed came out and changed everything for me. I had to have one, even though I never owned a stick before. I love my car!

take my word and others, the 6spd is a whole different car; i took a beating on trading in my 01 cls (no tranny problems in 42k miles) in March, dont regret it at all. THE CAR SHOULDA BEEN THIS WAY FROM THE START.
