6-speed LSD action no need for traction control....

I wanted to post this to see if anyone else had similar experiences....

I was coming off a right hand decreasing radius exit ramp too fast really, like 85, the road was dry but there was snow at the side and snow-melt here and there. The back end started to step out gradually so I let off and eased on the brakes which kinda calmed things down then suddenly SNAP I lost the back end and the car started heading right for the wall at the side of the road. This happened in like nano-seconds!!

I dialed in almost full left opposite lock and kept on the gas gently becuase I knew if I hit the brakes my lovely CL-S was a goner...I was in 4'th gear Amazingly the car corrected even at that speed and the rear swung back literally inches from totally wiping out ....at that point I shut down and hit the brakes and the car just came to a dead stop in the middle of the road with the anti-lock going crazy!

To tell you the truth I don't know how I saved it!!!? But now I feel it could only have been the LSD working when I laid on the power in opposite lock...the right wheel driving to snap the rear back in line. I've been driving FWD cars for 18 years and never have I seen one do that it basically felt like a when vechicle stability control snathes the car away from you and stops it... only thing is the CL-S 6 speed has none!!

Boy - those Honda engineers know their crap.... Sorry for the long post but anybody experience similar??

I notice it in my driveway!

Because of its orientation to the winter sun, the right side of my driveway gets a little icy as the snow melts. I've played around with the car and gunned it (well sort of) and I can feel the right wheel spin but the left wheel grabs and I can go about my merry way.

I have not had a life-saving experiences, but I agree that the LSD is a great addition for the traction system of this car. Great for stabilizing in turns and under poor road conditions.

Coming home one day last week, there was light, drifted snow along the outer edges of the streets in my neighborhood. For grins, I put my right tires in the fluff and gunned it (rolling in 2nd gear). I could hear/feel the right tire spinning but the car kept going straight with little or no pull to the right.

HLSD is some good stuff! I had a similar system (ATTS) on my '97 Prelude SH.

I have on 03 CLS6, and the sales brochure says there is a g sensor in the car that automatically applies the brakes on the outside of the turn if you are aproaching the g limit for cornering.

Sounds like your car broke traction before this feature kicked in (if you have it, I don't know your year.) In any case, I'd ask the dealer to check it!

on the VSA 5AT yes there is "few" G-sensors. On the 6-speed, there is none, NADA!....

Dont hit your brakes going into corners, especially on something wet- that was your first mistake.

I love the LSD stories. I have no LSD story yet, but can say that handling is much better than in my TL.

Dfreder .... My CL is an '03

moforose 3.0 .... I didn't hit the brakes I eased on the brakes, the mistake was the speed, I had to scrub off speed.

Maybe it would not have kicked out if I didn't have those stock tires on there. That motor is way too much for the stock threads.

A negative of LSD is that in slippery conditions they can sometimes make a vehicle go sideways. However, this can also be a positive. This happened to me a few weeks ago when I got stuck in some deeply rutted snow. There were some bare spots a few feet away to one side. I noticed that it naturally drifted to the bare patch as the wheels spun. So I kept at it for a minute as it worked its way to getting unstuck.

This winter's snow has been brutal but I've had no problems getting around with the 6-speed CL.
