With the 6 Speed clutch on backorder...

Doesnt that mean that production on the accord 6 speed, TSX 6 speed, and probably the TL 6 speed are all on hold? Dont they all use the exact same clutch?

maybe they are back ordered because there is a high demand for them to produce the trannies for those cars?

I don't know the details... but there is nothing really wrong with the tranny/clutch from the 6-speeds.

Manual transmission equipped cars are NOT big sellers in the automobile market. They probably don't produce a large surplus of the components, especially since most folks take many 1000s of miles before they fail. The great majority of us with 2003 model year M/T won't be looking for those wearable components for several years.

And how can you be sure that the TSX, Accord, and CL share the same M/T components?

I'd say the back order is from the new cars coming out that need the parts first. Then replacment parts will follow.

Here in the USA I think that manuals account for about 15 perecnt of the overall sales. In europe it's a different story.

Quite true.

My point was that there is probably little need at this point in time to have a stockpile of CL clutch components. It should be the rare case that one has to be replaced within 1.5 years of the introduction of the vehicle. If I was in charge of Honda/Acura ordering, I'd probably only have a couple available and produce additional components on an as needed basis. Of course, as time goes on, we'll see more clutches failing and need replacement, at that point there will be some available in the coffers.

Well, at $30/day for my rental and there being about 35 days since i got it until september 1st, thats $1050 just for the rental. The cost of about 4 of the clutch components that are on backorder. Someone messed up, i still think it was engineering and they are fixing the problem.

I think you could lemon law your car if it in the shop for more then 30 days in it's first year of ownership.

Of course lemon laws vary by state, and probably don't cover wearable items like clutches.

The transmissions are the same. The ratios are the same. The exception is that the TSX version uses a different rear end ratio than the V6's. Clutches last a long time. I imagine all available ones are committed for production runs right now.
