6 speed CL-S in my future?

Yeah, that's right..... I'm considering buying a new 6 speeder.

What are they going for these days? Are there good deals to be had?

My M3 will be leaving me shortly and I honestly don't want another one.........for now at least. Maybe later when the M3 GT is avaiable.

One question for the 6 speed owners:

When driving at about 60 mph in 6th gear, how is the acceleration? In other words, does the car have enough balls to pass without the need to downshift to 5th gear?

Also, what is the future of the CL? Any known changes for next year? Or could they just kill the CL after this year? What's the latest info?

You had a 5 speed auto CL-S long ago, right? The 6 speed revs a little higher in 6th than the auto does in 5th when cruising. That and the lack of a torque converter sapping power gives it a little better passing. But I'm sure its no M3. 60 in 6th is only about 2000 rpm. Kinda slow for 6th. 80 in 6th is about 2800 while it was more like 2300 in 5th in the auto.

You can PASS at 60MPH in sixth just fine.
Granted, you won’t get WHIPLASH doing it , but you can safely pass.

As for the future of the CL, any info posted here by others would just be a guess.

I feel like I'm in a similar position. I want to trade in a 2001 Audi TT 225Q for a CL-S 6speed w/ 15,000 miles. I don't know why, but I feel like I want to get back to Japanese reliability from the German experience.

Do you think I could do a 1:1 trade with my car?

Well, you're still gonna get a great car in the CL-S6.

Why is the ///M going away???

I've never felt the need to downshift while cruising on the Interstate between 65-75 if I want to pass slower traffic. This is one of the things that impressed me with the car when I first drove one last spring. But if you want the addit power, it's there with a single forward motion applied to the stick.

Passing in 6th gear is pretty easy. Now if you WOT don't expect to pass as if you were in 4th gear but passing is not an issue in 6th.

Don't know anything about next year.
