I'm on the highway cruising at a relaxing 70, when I see my friend in his 2K Eclipse GT 5 spd (maybe an 01, ) coming up very fast behind me. So i gun it, and by the time he gets next to me I'm about even with him at around 110. So I'm flooring it and I'm hardly pulling on him, if at all! 3rd caught me up to his speed real quick, but 4th just sucks! Kinda embarrasing.

My cousin and I always race on the highway, and he has a 5spd 01 eclipse. When you race cars on the highway you have to be in 3rd and 3rd only. Once out of 3rd a freakin, prelude could whip us unless you have headers. NOW, i noticed when in 3rd (i did this once with my cousin b/c I don't like driving in triple digits) if you floor it all the way to 110-115 when 3rd cuts off, and shift right into forth, you still have enough momentum to pull on someone. I did that to my cousins eclipse but by the time we hit 110 in 3rd and i shifted into forth it was already to late for him. I had pulled at least 4-5 cars on him. Forth gear just narrowed the margin down a little maybe 3-4 cars.

I had the same problem before headers--I seriously recommend them for dealing w/ this problem

Soon I won't have this problem either! Just keep going til about 120 then VTEC kicks back in and your ok.

headers You can pull hard through 4th...............

I don't do a lot of triple digit racing, but I'm definately looking in to headers, now that they are $500.

A 6-Speed with headers will certainly take care of the problem. In fact, I hear it is suggested by the Surgeon General!!
