48" brake light mod

So I ordered some 48" led ribon lights (60 leds in red) from China. So its going to be a while before I get them. I know how to wire them.

I was wondering if any one had any ideas on how to hide the back of them so the when I step on the brake it doesnt shine in side.

What I am planing on doing is installing it at the top of the window inside the car( I could go outside with the light because they say they are water proof, also my car is black and and the led ribon is black when its off and also there is 3M tape on the back of them) But I want to install them on the inside, But as I siad I need to cover the back so it doesnt shine inside.

Any suggestions/Ideas would help

dont put them on the outside, looks tacky.

Im thinking black duct tape or paint the part of the LED you dont want showing with black paint.

I agree with the first statement( but I am putting a lip roof spoiler on at the same time)

The duct would look even tackier . the back of it is already black but it has to be seeled or light will come out the bottom

Im thinking of some kind of plastic strip that an L shape but have no idea if anyone makes any thing like that and where to get it is also an issue

Paint the bottom or use tape to cover the bottom up. All you need is some type of barrier. I had the same issue with my LED strip on my license plate. I ended up painting the side of it.

I think it might actually look good. Farabeast did something similar on his car and it looked real nice. Go for it MrFluffy!

So here is a picture to get an idea of what im doing(this not my car and it is a shity pic of what im doing)

1st a roof lip spoiler from an SL500 amg
2nd im doing a brake light either on it of below it inside the window.
3rd im doing a reverse light on it as well

The pic of farabeasts car is (I think) 120leds im only doing 60 leds for the brake light

I dont really care what people think it is going to look like Because im already going to do it, because I think it will look good and if it doesnt oh well its only costing me $50.

anways my question is if i mount it inside so the light comes throught the glass how do I block it from refecting inside with out taping it

azn that looks sick but I wanted to know how you have the light mounted

BTW this is the roof spoiler

And these are the white lights for the reverse lights and the other ones are the same but red

and you dont want to paint it either?
maybe go to home depot or something and see if you can find some kind of plastic moulding.

I mounted my LEDs with a ruler as a base, zip ties, duct tape and t-tap connectors.

I did my car first so the quality isnt that good. I did my friend's car second and his came out better. The LED is hidden instead of exposed.

I cant take pics now cause im flooded with work and school. Remind me in a couple of weeks.

I just want to see how you did it. so I can get an idea for doing mine.

They way you did I figured I was not going to look all that great but I dont really care about that its the way it looks when your not looking at the install but the finished product and it looks good.

If you want to PM me the pic so you dont get ragged on for the rough install thats cool to

no, its cause im really busy. no time to take pics during the day, but like I said the way i installed it in my car, other drivers have the potential to see the LED strip. its completely hidden on the way i installed it on my friend's car.

but anyways, keep on topic for a couple of weeks till im free.

I got my lip spoiler today Its not like I expected but it should work its crazy only took like 4-5 business days to ship from China and cost me $29 with shipping, no COD either

I was wondering are the lip spoilers that everyone else order are like a rubber material?
