!/4 Mile in 15.56 ... WTF???

I went to the track with my son last week. Temp was 80 and humidity was 45%. Heated the tires as I approached the line. Got a clean launch. Car "seemed" to pull nicely the whole way. Even beat out a turbo MR2 (he was pissin' and moaning afterwards about something).

R/T = 1.016
60 ft = 2.467
1/8 = 10.091 at 71.8 mph
1000 = 13.057
1/4 mi = 15.56

I was sure expecting better. WTF?? My first run was very close to this one. 1/4 mi = 15.59. Checked the actuator today and it appears to be operating okay.

My guess ... it's because of tranny #2 installed last fall. Never ran the car before so I have nothing to compare to.

Just doesn't seem right.

So now.. Aucra is detuning CLS to CLP levels.... Nice move Acura

80F at 45% should not be to far from SAE normal conditions.
60' shoud be 2.2-2.3s
1/4 miles shoud be 15s.

Now what was ur Trap speed, I guess it was some 88 MPH.

Trap speed was 89.86 on first run and 90.00 on the run above.

First run, just stab and steer.

Second run, torque braking to around 2500.

Wheel spin ... yep. Hop ... nope.

Just weird.

As you commented on the 60' time, would a 2.3 time have resulted in a half second difference at the finish?

I guess it just goes to say that not all cars are the same and likewise for the tracks.

The MPH seems to be extremely low. 89-90mph indicates something is off. Then again don't overlook the tracks. I trap 92-93mph in my 03 Accord at Indianapolis Raceway Park, while others have trapped around 95mph at other tracks.

Then again, you just never know what evil Honda has in their minds. Maybe that ECU switch with the tranny replacement detuned the cars more than expected.

I do not understand why no one did a dyno after the latest tarnny/ECU replacement.

I'd take it in... it makes no sensethat your trap is so low. Even if it were me driving it, being the shitty driver that I am, it should hit in the lower 90s on a hot ass day. There's definetely soemthing wrong with your car.

Hell I have hit 88-89mph in my stock 150 whp Taurus, so you definitely have something up. Either you are down on power or the trans is sucking the life outta the engine.

I need to take mine to the track when I get her back. Last year when I went on a similar type day (80+ degrees with humidty) I still ran a 15.2-15.3 @ 92-93mph so I agree that something is wrong there.

I'll be pissed if I trap anything under a 94-95 with headers!

WHen i ran my first 1/4 mile in my TLS (first tranny) .. i ran a 15.4 @ 89.00 mph .. don't feel bad.. the car needs to be broken in .. the tranny has absolutely nothing to do w/ it despite what everyone will tell you.

Acura didn't de-tune shit.. it's all the same... you just have some bad runs.. (that didn't sound too good) .. wait till you have 20,000 on the ODO, go run again .. you'll be sub-15.0 . guaranteed...

Did you feel/hear the intake runners switch over at about 4000 rpm?

Make sure your actuator is working.

Isn't it something like for every 1,000 feet in elevation, you lose 3-5% of your power? (Not counting forced induction)

Also, like Tom2 said, you should make sure that the VTEC is working properly. I think it was on A-TL.com, I read about a guy with a TL-S who was getting shitty power, and turns out that the VTEC valve was stuck and couldn't engage.

Something is not right. Low mileage wouldn't account for that much difference. It really sounds like your actuator, but if that is working, take your car in and tell them you feel a big loss of power and have them check the VTEC and actuator. Just a thought-check your air filter. Maybe you sucked up something that is really blocking air flow. I have seen some huge leaves make it in there somehow.

Don't know about the elevation but I don't think Sears Point (in Sonoma County) is much above sea level. The actuator is working ... checked that first thing. I will check the air filter ... didn't think of that.

Like I said earlier ... the car pulled strong thru out the run ... nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Maybe I'll go back in the fall when it's cooler. The track was pretty well used that night. Lots of racing with all types of cars, probably over 100 cars.

What do you tell the dealer when you take it in, V? Umm... I took my car to the track and it ran too slow? They will give the approriate treatment

Anyway, while we are on the new tranny subject, does anyone with the "fixed" tranny experience lower gas milage? I used to run 220-250 miles to gas light on. Now I only get 190-210. My driving conditions and patterns remain the same and I filled about 6-7 tanks already.

i'm going to say that there is nothing wrong with the car.

high 60ft time + hot weather + no mods = slow run.

his trap speed indicates that he got a slow start, which is reflected by the 60ft time.

The same thing happened to me. I've had my second tranny for about a year now. I've noticed that my gas mileage isn't the same as before either. Strange.

anybody know what would cause something like that? It feels like my car is sucking more gas now.

Maybe you could tell them that your car feels like it's performing very poorly all of a sudden and that was reinforced by your track time.

Bro ..

i take it back, there is something wrong w/ your car... definitely get it checked out. Don't know exactly how you're gunna bring it up to the dealer.. they don't exactly condone taking your car to the track so long as they have to do warranty work on your car, "yeah.. so i was at the track.. and only ran a 15.6 .. hmmm"

I checked the actuator and it is working. Clicks over around 4,000 RPM or so.

Right now I am thinking it was track conditions, dirty air filter (just checked it and it was not pretty), and the 2nd tranny. Let's see what happens with a clean air filter.

Back to the actuator again. Maybe you should check more than just if the actuator is clicking over. Is their tention on the cable? It could be that the actuator is clicking over, but the cable has come disconnected/broken from the internal plates? Just a thought.
