3yr 36k warranty on transmissions

Hey guys i went to Stevens Creek Acura, and the Advisor told me that they are averaging about 100 tranny's a month that are being done. That # blew me away.

Another note that some of u might have known, but I did not, was that each transmission has a 3 year 36k warranty. Therefore as he told me, if your tranny dies at 99,900, you will be covered for roughly 135,900 miles. Thats not bad.

Quick, someone go dig up all of the people who posted and said the transmission failure wasn't an issue... LOL

Of course 100 a month is 3 a day! just about... wow. That's insane if those numbers are correct.

Good news on the 36k warranty. I didn't know that

yeah, each transmission is a time bomb to explode... its just a matter of time. hopefully it will happen before 100K, otherwise you are screwed... but it will happen eventually before 200K

Yeah, but have they gotten a reliable fix for the tranny now? They have had plenty of time to get it right.

Now? Maybe.... But what about all the people still having old transmissions awaiting for them to fail? Warranty is there, but 100K is not sufficient... I'd expect to run those cars for 200K miles.

Minus weekends, that's more like nine a day. Try to imagine that happening, consistently.

That is a dilemma. I really hope they've gotten a CORRECT fix by now.

I have a 2001 CL-S with 26,000 miles and just checked the tranny fluid. Gettin' a little dark, but it's supposed to anyway since there is a tranny fluid change at 30k.

Then I checked the tranny fluid my family's 2002 Toyota Sequoia which has 34k miles. Haven't done the 30k service yet, but the fluid is super bright pinkish-red. And this vehicle's done it's fair amount of towing also.

Hey, this ain't stopping me driving the CL like you're supposed to!

Can anyone confirm 3yrs/36k miles warranty on replaced transmission? I think the local dealer states something different: 1yr/12kmiles!

Nashua.

i still havent heard about a feb.03 traany failing, so thats good to know.
and since some older trannies failed within 5k miles, i would say the newer ones are definately improved.
also, reading most of the nhtsa report confirms my speculation

My tranny failed middle of February while the tech was on the test drive! He said there was a whine in the tranny!

That gets me an extra 1,000 miles, as #3 was put in at about 65,000.
