The .5 we all quote is from Acura's press material. It is not stated as a fact, (we all know the Q45 debacle) and until I see a timeslip from a 6 speed CL-S, I will have my doubts that it is much faster. I think on average, in the 1/4 it may be .2 faster. Just my opinion, but lets see some timeslips before we debate this too long

Nope. Car and driver also shows a .5 in their tests.

If anything, Acura's times might be a little convervative. I remember they quoted 6.57 for the 01 CL-S the mags and members here got better.

Better get another ENGINE on order before they do that.

Nope. Car and driver also shows a .5 in their tests.
Actually, if I remember correctly, Car and Driver had the TL-S at 6.2 seconds (I know their CL-S was slower, but what gives with that??) and the 6 speed at 6.1.
Actually since I have the article here, they estimated it at 6.1 seconds. They just took .5 off the 6.6 they had for the CL-S.
I don't trust their numbers at all. Again, let's just wait until someone takes it to the track. I definitely think the 6 speed is faster stock for stock. I have a friend getting a 6 speed CLS in a few weeks, so I will see how well my headers help

I'll post a story when it happens

Didn't the TL-S that the mags tested have Comptech Headers on it. One mag described that car as being equipped with an "experimental exhaust manifold" or something like that.

That would explain why the TL-S got low-6's/high-14's in mag testing and the CL-S 5AT only got high-6's/low-15's despite the fact that it's mechanically identical and within a few pounds of being the same weight.

I thought this was common knowledge. Or am I wrong?

I highly doubt the TL-S had headers. If that fact came out, it would really hurt Acura's credibility. I think the TL-S they tested just was a ringer. Having stock 14.8 CL-S is not common but still a few have done it.

That TL-S is more on par with the actual times of the Type-S...the test with the CL-S was a total fraud...the guy probably left it in D5...stomped on the gas with the VSA on...and used the simpleton logic of "Autos are simple. Stomp and Go."

You guys can think what you want, the point is, a manual is quicker than an auto.

Anyone that doesn't believe me, I'll put $$$ on me in a 6 speed STOCK vs ANY of you foos in an auto stock.

Bring IT!

Everyone is saying, ".2-.5 faster from 0-60mph!" Someone said, ".2 faster in the 1/4 mile!"

As always mentioned, "IT DEPENDS ON THE DRIVER WHEN WE ARE TALKING ABOUT TIMES THIS CLOSE!!"

What we need is a few to go the track and post a few timeslips. I agree, the 6MT should/will be quicker. How fast? I still think the launch will make the defference in 1/4 mile. Anything over that, the 6MT all the way. We need timeslips!
