330ci ahahaha
Goin to work today, in the middle lane behind a newer 330ci convertable. Fast lane opens up, I start to move over he jumps in front of me and hits it. I proceed to do the same, and we have a nice lil run from about 70-110. Dead even draw. I kid you not, the distance between us was exactly the same. We had to cut that short b/c of some car up ahead. We got to hit it one more time, same result. He waved at me and took some odd exit. Prob was like lol.
Those damn things are HEAVY, about 500lbs over the hardtop. I figured it was an auto, but looking at the transmissions and gearing I dunno... Remember even the auto is a 6-speed - the auto and manual have very similar 3/4/5/6 gearing. The manual's 1/2 are much shorter tho. So it think it could have been either a manual or auto as I don't see how he could have dipped into second going that fast. The manual would have me from a dead stop, the auto would be just about even. The hardtop would rape me as of now...
1998 Acura 3.0CL
3219lbs
200hp@5500
195tq@4700
0-60 7.6 seconds (A)
2003 BMW 330ci vert
3616lbs (M)
3704lbs (A)
225hp@5900rpm
214tq@3500rpm
0-60 6.9 seconds (M)
0-60 7.5 seconds (A)
Even tho it has a lil more power and a lil better gearing, it's weight killed it.

The outcome is about right. I have about 500lbs on the 330ci vert, which is about ~50hp or so diff. It's got 25hp more, and I'd say the better gearing makes up for the rest.

The hardtop version would run all over me period.
I just thought it was funny b/c I assume he punched it to jump infront of me and kinda show out - not expecting me to be RIGHT behind him.

There saaaloowww! Wanted to buy one until I drove it, standard or auto stinks. I couldn't believe the car was that slow, guess that's what the M3 is for. I will give it to BMW, the car handles great--very high quality workmanship.
It's been my experience that beamer owners can't drive for the most part and most are too uptight to race anyone. Raced a 98 M3 once from 50-125 and we were within 1 car length the entire time. That was the best I've ever had with a BMW.
Good job making the beamer sweat...

Manuals should be mid 15s, autos high 15s.
The manual gets it's lead from it's short first gear. After second, the manual and auto are actually pretty damn close b/c their gearing is similar (both are six speeds). From a ~60+ roll, both would be about the same.

It was the vert man, re-read my post above. No way I'd touch the hardtop as of now. The vert is 500lbs heavier than the hardtop, big difference. From a 60+ roll, it wouldn't matter manual or auto - almost identical gearing.

You really have to throw the 0-60 times on this race. It does give a good base on what the cars CAN do but it might not be accurate to determine the outcome of this particular race.
Do I believe this kill? Sure. I have an Accord with the same motor and the reason why it has a 7.5+ 0-60 is the lack of down low torque, VTEC-E camshafts, and very poor automatic. The 2nd gear IMO is the best gear in this car and that'll hit about the range you guys ran in. I notice that on the highway the Accords have done decent versus the street. Good kill.
