30K Service

It's almost time

How much is this gonna cost me?

I was talkin to this guy and he said that i can even get it done at Midas it doesn't have to be done at the dealership...as long as its an ASE Certified place? Is this true. I have never gone anywhere for anything, besides the tires, than the dealership?

what do you guys think?

I am gonna do it at the dealership, this will be my first service at the dealership ( before that only oil changes, tire rotations and changed transmission fluid at 15K ).
my delarship wants like $420+ tax. I will bring it down by skipping:
- Radiator Flush ( saves you $50, this can wait till 45K miles)
- Brake fluid change
- Air filter ( do it myself ).

So I am looking at around $300.... which is not bad for every 30K... while its under warranty its a good idea to have it checked.... when you get to 60K+ you can start saving up money by skipping some stupid checks....

A 30K would consist of the following.

Oil & filter change
Fuel injector cleaner
Rotate and balance.
Drain and refill transmission fluid.
Change air filter
Change compartment filters (a.c. filters)

Really folks, does this seem expensive to you???

Don't you think inspections are worse it? I agree its stupid to have it checked every 7,500 miles, but common, once every 30K miles you can afford to have everything checked out. I am gonna do it at least once while its under warranty so in case something goes wrong they can't blame me for something, or maybe they will find something broken and fix it under warranty.
Inspections cost maybe extra $100-150....

Sure, why help anybody else with a post?
I think $420 is outrageous. I paid $141.00 (my oil), for 30K service, at an Acura dealer..

I like to hear the, "cut corners"??? This recommended service stands between Honda recommendations and the "dealers" who most of them try to sell you a servcie that is not needed.

Like I always post on the ACURA TL. COM & this forum the 30K service is important. It should cost you in the range of $300-$350 taxes & EPA stuff included. It all comes down to this you have about $150 Labor & $150 for Parts. This is a MAJOR SERVICE for your car. You can not compare yourself to an ACURA TECH.
If you do your own service to your car you are not going to pay the labor cost ofcourse. So this is why you can't compare the cost.
I have a flyer from a HONDA/ACURA service place & this guy has his own shop. He worked for the same HONDA dealership for many years as a MASTER TECH. This is a dealership that I purchased 3 new HONDA cars from. On his flyer from his shop he list prices for a 30K service for 6-cly at $389 & the regular price is $425.
They do a little more than the dealer does like replacing engine coolant. This is the general price for all 6-cyl cars with some models costing slightly more & cars with Platinum Spark Plugs more also.
But the price is in-line with the dealers & his flyer says OUR SERVICE EXCEEDS FACTORY RECOMMENDATIONS

I was quoted under $200...BUT...even $350 every 30K miles isn't too bad for some preventative maintenance, etc.

IMHO

There are toooooo many discrepancies with the 30k service. When I called around to get price quotes, everything varied! Seriously, look in the manual and do what it says..... prices that are 250+ is just plain ridiculous. My price at Continental was $222.00 (and that included changing the trans fluid).

you know what i think

FUCK IT

what are they going to do??? check this check that, all for 400 bucks!!! i think service is a waste unless your car gets a complete computer diagnostic, complete flush of all fluids, and new brake pads and resurfaced rotors. oh and they better throw in a hand wash and wax

i might get flamed for this one but just think about it! look at what they offer and ask yourself now is that really worth 400-500 dollars???

my philosophy if you aint going to mod then dont fix it unless its broken!!!!

you can get your service done and the next day your tranny goes out or your alternator dies then what next?? warranty work but you just wasted the 400 bucks for "maintanence"
