30k maintenance - itemize and save $$$
the price quoted from 2 dealers for the 30k service was approximately $395 plus shop supplies.
instead i provided a list of things i wanted done which included: new antifreeze; new transmission fluid; tire rotation w/o balance; new transmission fluid; new a/c filters; check actuator (checked and found ok - it only works at 3500 rpm when the car is in gear); and state inspection.
installation of the air filter was $56 so i did that myself for $26; i already had an oil change (mobil synthetic).
the total ended up being $224.
next on the agenda are new tires. right now i am leaning towards the toyo proxes ts-1's for $180 a piece.
overall, since 10 march 2000, the car has performed flawlessly. just got 30mpg on last trip.
