3.5's rolling along

South Florida's Propulsion Labratory at Rick Case has just delivered its 16th -SX 3.5, and started production of #17 (a white diamond TL-S w/underbody kit for a Press demonstrator).

Other updates:

4.1L variant to run in Dyno cell mid-June. This features 6 individual throttle bodies and Haltech engine management.

Turbo engine launches connecting rod at 7500 RPM and 8 PSI (Laptop based engine management)...no worries...just durability testing of "stock/massaged" con rods and head gaskets. New block required then on with the tests.

First 3.2L base (J32A1) conversion (3.5) with new manifold produced 206HP at the wheel and was a disappointment after a $6K investment...needs more work to be viable, cost effective upgrade. Project target is 200HP (wheel) for $3K.

Digital cam problem (stolen) has delayed pictures of the powder coated/wrinkle finished Cylinder head covers. 13 covers remain from first batch (less 2 for 3.5 #17)

I think he was talking about the CL-P. 3.2L base is what he mentioned. I thought the same thing at first.

The purpose of this research was for all the TL/CL owners who had buyers remorse but want the go-power. The difference when new is $2K, but what is the TRADE difference? Allot more than the $3K target we are shooting for. Plus, the torque of this modded powerplant is superior to a stock -S. I only persued this after enough interest was apparent in my email traffic.

Doug, Is there a twin turbo type-S in the works? Will it be stick? What have you heard about the cl-S being prepared for rally? If so does that mean that stck will be available for this car?

A turbocharged version is what blew up in Durability testing...

MchtypeS, come in when you like.

Rally car probably will not sport a slushbox, expect a stick, though maybe not the production 6-speed???
