3.5l upgrade

What all needs to be done to take our 3.2 to a 3.5? and how much does it cost?

well, there is nothing out yet. One of our board members, DeanblackCLS is working on completing the kit at his shop... but it's not quite done yet. Hopefully this fall we'll see something....

Cost hasn't been released yet either... but I'm guessing it will probably be around $2500 (+/- $500) or so plus install costs....

Except that it makes about 40whp less! I think if you do the 3.5upgrade, build the motor appropriately for NA use or FI use. Then its definately worth it and puts you way ahead of the competition.

So for a measly 100lbs... probably less, you wouldn't want a mod that's been proven to run the 1/4 mile in the mid to high 13's and increases torque across the power band? That's strange

Is it only 100lbs?

I guess then it's not so bad.

But even then, since my other car is an A4, I'd say that the TLS/CLS need better handling more than they need more power.

I guess it comes down to driving priorities :-)

"Nose heavy? Yea by 2.145 lbs."

Um, you sure you got everything? What about the engine block itself? Are they identical?

hemants,

The blocks are identical....its the rotating assembly that is different.

If you just swap the bocks over with your stock Cl/TL-S heads, the compression ratio will go up to 10.8:1--really good for all motor and will definately make more torque everywhere.

The one we have built has forged pistons (10.2:1), shot peaned rods and a completely balanced rotating assembly....It was built to handle just about anything we want to throw at it.....S/C, nitrous, etc.

I don't know. So far the most any CL-S has put down in terms of power is from the 3.2L 6-speeds.

this will void the warranty definetly right? what if i took it to the dealership to do or if i get it done at an independent shop. Would the dealership be able to tell the difference when i take it in for say my free oil changes or 7.5k maintenance service?

my dealer put mine in and ...you dont even have to change the block (not that they could tell you did) a small engraved j35a instead of j32a they'd have to be looking for it...you could just change the bottom end and noone would ever know

nah for half the cost you get pretty much half the performance.....i hope hehe I would think the 3.5l upgrade wouldn't present the same issues as FI would over the long term.

I called Rick Case a couple weeks ago and they told me they had lots of problems with the 3.5L upgrade they did. But typeR you haven't mentioned any problems, so what's the deal with that other upgraded CL/TL? I'm still excited as sh!t though. So what are we looking at about 15-30 whp?

Guys... I am sorry, but 300cc is not going to give you 20-40whp. I am not dogging on TypeR here... he has built a good car and it runs great. However... the before/after dyno's also included the addition of the Comptech Headers.

i've had no problems...i do consume alittle oil about 2 qt's in 6 months ...however i do go WOT alot all the way to 7200...the car rides and drives perfect ,idles perfect ...except for the power i'd say that none would have any idea it was done, the exhaust note is alittle deeper but not louder, however the details i dont know...this was a fully assembled kit.i know it's an oddessey ,block and crank but what rods and pistons is unclear also im told a better oil pump

now if someone would like to provide me with 5 megs of hosting i'd love to share a video of the exhaust note along with the streetability of this vehical and show siggy why he should have never got burnout of the month...

sorry if my math was a little bit wrong....based on the increase of HP from the SC. I figure if the SC yields 45 WHP at 6800 RPM, and the upgrade is about half of that you're looking at about 20+ HP. Then the 3.5L upgrade is pushing a lighter car with VTEC. But I guess you're saying the upgrade doesn't yield half of the power of the SC?

if I understand correctly, the Odyssey engine gets only 240 lbs torque, whereas the MDX engine gets 250. But both engines have a lower compression than the type S engine. So which would be better - An engine swap or parts swap?
