3.5 engine build in progress- no money spared!

Alright, just got off the phone with Paul. According to him, he literally removes the snout off the J32 cams and transplants them onto the j35 type s cams along with some machining. There's no "spacer" that's used because of how the cams end is designed to accept the cam gear and bolt. There's a bearing surface at the end which also has another rise on it where the cam gear itself sits. So due to the two stepped end, a simple spacer cannot be used or else the geometry wouldn't match.
Needless to say, I'm following through with it. Actually trying to find the cheapest price around to order the cams and will be shooting them to Paul directly.
Also, according to him, there's no difference in using 3g TL-S and 05+ RL cams in terms of the specs and performance. They are pretty much the same...aside from the hollowness.

Wow...
So now if people don't know an answer to an unknown custom modification we become retarded people? Chill out man, it's nothing to become high minded about. I was repeating something I was told. Until now, nobody posted any pictures nor displayed any info whatsoever about this.
Swoosh, I will check out that source. I appreciate that.

That's awesome because I have a list here in front of me of about $1240 worth of stuff that is needed in OEM parts, plus the 07 TL-S cams, to finish my motor. There's a few things that I've decided to just reuse off of one of the three J32's here at the shop but all the components that require a bit of work to replace or that jeopardize the integrity of its performance I will replace with brand new parts: crank sensor, cam sensor, knock sensor, etc...
I will give this guy a list a little bit later today and see what he can do for me. I've found that simply putting in a Acura OEM part number into Googles search allows you to filter a lot of different prices and can usually come out pretty cheap. I've never had to buy so many expensive parts in my life, my god. This motor better rape all of its competitors, lol.
Cocoa, so nice to see you on my side of town. This build is for another car (03 TL-S) btw... Too much time on my hands! ***sarcastic remark***

Nice Hope those ballasts are waterproof

The Morimotos on top are sealed IIRC. Not sure about the VVMEs.

Civic called it. I've had those VVME's for about 5 years or so...before finding Morimoto, that's who we used. They aren't waterproof at all but for $45 ballasts, they aren't bad. AC voltage output, no flicker, slow ramp saturation, and all this at 55W! :-)

Aren't these cams pretty pointless if they have the same spec on the exhaust and mid(vtec) lobe as the j32a2 cams(Talking about top end performance here). I guess If you think the $400 price tag is worth the little extra lift on the primary/secondary for low rpms usage then go for it. Some one correct me if im wrong here.

Update:
I've decided on doing a 6-MT now because of the foreseen reliability issues I will have with the auto. That's means that I had to throw in the towel on the custom auto controller R&D I was assisting in but he was cool with it and understood. So the intensive work has begun on the car on clearing the work areas for the clutch pedal, master cylinder, shifter and other misc additions. Because the dash is coming out anyways, we're adding the stock Navi while we're in there just to spice things up. Still have the other TL that's been sitting with the all black interior but I'm not sure if I can handle a full interior swap right now. Might save that for later.
I sent Paul my block guard because the build starts today and it will be needed very soon! We also agreed that doing a dual throttle body intake would be an absolute MUST because this motor will need to breath! Along with the block guard, my direct port nitrous kit was sent so that he could weld/angle the bungs in the correct places and route the plumbing also. This isn't 'the' intake but it's what it will look like:
To be continued...

Just saw your going with manual swap. This thig will be amazing once done.

Hey, that pic looks familiar.

After all the time, effort, STRESS, that I've been putting into the car....it better give me more than just "amazing". I've been looking at the CL-S and 03-07 Accord 6-speed M/T's and need to make a move soon. I've found some pretty good deals and am contemplating strengthening the guts or not.
It should, I see your name all over the place over there. :-)
Like I said, this is just a pic that I snagged from his thread. But one look at this BEAST and I was sold. I really can't wait to see that manifold with all that beautiful nitrous plumbing wrapped around it! That would be pure evil...mmmm
#151
If anyone is interested in the manifold that I posted one the first page with the custom work done to it, call dibs now or be watching for it in the black market. There will be a few other parts that I was originally going to use for this build plus some other spare parts that I have that will also be posted in there as well.

Just wanted to show some of the progress on the wire tuck/shave that's been taking place. It's pretty crazy how many holes, crevices, seams our cars have in the engine compartment that aren't even needed and truly serve no purpose at all. Also, when examining all of it, you begin to realize that alot of what's required to clean up when doing an engine compartment shave is essentially due to Acuras laziness and of course the due to the factory's speed and effiency demand. Although understandable, still just adds to the amount of work! Anyhow....
Here's a before shot:

A new LSD is ~$800 from Honda.
05-06 TL 6MTs are much easier to source and have identical gearing and the LSD. All you need to do is drill the hole in the bell housing for the crank gear and drill and tap the bosses for the front torque dampener. Im running an 06 tranny in my CL.
