3.2 CL S v.s. C230 kompressor

What the hell - last Tuesday I'm taking a stroll down the highway. I'm approaching a slow 18-wheeler, so I'm about to perform a lane change when this punk in a silver C230 sport coupe is just hovering right next to my drivers side door. He's giving me this look like: "Come on and gun it." I didn't take that bait so I waited for the little punk to pass me by so I could safely make the lane change.

I don't jump just because some punk is grinning at me. So I pull behind him and tailgate his ass to see what he's going to do. He floors it and takes off. I could estimate from his take off that I could eat his lunch so I let him get about two car lengths ahead of me before I dropped it into 3rd. As hard as he's darting between cars I let him perform his little stunts then I swallow up road between me and him STILL not hitting quite the top of 3rd yet. At one point he zig zagged through three cars - I gunned over to the passing lane and was waiting for him in the adjacent lane when he finished his stunt. The kid was stunned. Finally the traffic clears up for a stretch and I walk away from him. Why this little punk tried to play with me I don't know.

I don't think the 320 would put up much of a fight either...I'm almost positive those are heavier than our CLs and I know our engine's got more hp. The only C class I'd worry about is an AMG (either C43, C32, or C55)

I wasn't angry with the little twirp. I was actually laughing the whole time. Mercedes should be ashamed of themselves for taking the 1.8 liter engine out of a 1985 Volkswagon Scirocco and putting it in a late model car - supercharged or not.

Actually, I do commend MB for offering 4 different engine option for the C-Class: 2.5L V6 (201hp ) , 3.0L V6 (228hp ), 3.5L V6 (268hp ) and a 5.5L V8 (367hp ).

That said, the C-class does nothing for me. Good kill.

Will the automobile gods tell me why Mercedes came up with three different V6 engines? Why? Why just make one really good V6 and leave it alone? Money? Appeasing the thrifty masses? Stupidity? You decide.

2.5L V6 = 1st Car for your spoiled kid
3.0L V6 = For the wife
3.5L V6 = I got a little money but not AMG status yet
5.5L V8 = I'm the man and I know what I bought.

AMG is coming out with a 6.3 litre V8, I'd watch out for the new AMG C-Class. That would give ThinJim and allmotor_2000 a run for their money.
