3.0CL vs Eclipse GSX & Cavalier

ok, so I was driving aroud earlier tonight, and I was pulling onto the freeway on a cruise. I had two other people in the car. Probably about 130 lbs each. I have a mostly stock 3.0CL with just a CAI. I pull onto the freeway and a cavalier is already on there right next to me and since my intake growls he revved his engine. I laughed and decided to go for it. Needless to say I totally killed him. I was 15 car lengths ahead of him and I shut it down. Then I'm cruising for a while and he finally catches up, so I catch up to him and start playing with him for a whiel staying right next to him making him think he's pulling on me, then I went WOT and killed him again.

While I was racing this guy we passed a white eclipse GSX. I figured I could probably keep up with him. So he saw us go flying by and I slowed downfor him and so did the cavalier, then the cavalier and the GSX went at it and as they were about to pass me I went WOT. I started pulling on the GSX . And I slowly kept pulling on him for a while. then afteer a while we shut it down at about 100. He started to get off at an exit and I was just cruising so i followed him, but about 40 seconds after we shut down the cavalier goes flying past us. What a tool.

So we were on another freeway and I pull up next to him and rev my engine and he was probably game so again I went WOT and started pulling away hardcore then HE punched it and I was still pulling on him, but very very slowly. After a wehiul I slowed down for him againand he caught up, and we went at it one more time and at abotu 100 he started pulling away because for whatever reason my car shifted into 4th early adn I was at only 4000 rpms so I was only staying at 100. (I thought that waws weird since I had gotten my ar up to 135 before.) And he just kept pullinglike no other after that. He shut it down after he had about 15 car lengths on me, and I pulled up next to him and gave him a thumbs up out the window and he shifted and I heard a *pshhh* . I'm guessing he was either playing with me the whole time. Wasn't downshifteing probperly before, or either or both of those AND my car didn't shift right on the last time.

Either way it was a fun night.

well isnt the GSX also a mid 15 sec car ? and from a roll i doubt AWD helps that much so 3.0 vs stock GSX should be even?

Typically the GSX runs low 15s stock (w/ 5MT). However, it really should not have any problem taking a 3.0CL (aka 6G Accord V6 Coupe) from standing start OR rolling start. But if its a stock auto GSX then it's a driver's race.

The GSX had a pretty short final drive to compensate for the drivetrain loss. Which if this was a manual soemthing was wrong as they still trap in the 92 - 93 range; noticeably better than the 1st gen CL 3.0.

However, if this was an auto that changes things quite a bit as they would only trap in the 89 range, Or in line with a 3.0 CL.

it was definitely a manual, because he shifted right when I was next to him with my window down so I could hear his BOV. I was pulling on him, and keeping up fin until my car hit 100 and it shifted to 4th, then I just stood there and he kept going. When I downshifted it was too late and he was already gone.

Interesting, so he wasn't stock as you cannot hear the stock bypass valve. BTW, was it a 1st or 2nd gen GSX??

IMO, he was in a busted car as even a mildly modded GSX could trap in the 95+ range.

I was thinking that he wasn't used to driving it because when he shifted and I heard the BOV it took him forever to shift... like he wasn't used to the shifter yet or something, so I'm guessing it was a new car to him, or something along those lines.
