2nd Airbag Recall Notice

I am sure many of you have gotten this already, but I just got my recall letter yesterday for me to bring in my CL for the second time to replace an airbag component for the driver's side. I wonder why the first attempt failed? The letter stated that they were not satisfied with the first fix. Anyone already get their second fix done? Do you happen to know what they did the second time?

depending on the serial number, they'll either replace the air bag unit or just tighten the hex bolts

So this recall is only for those that had it replaced the first time? I had mine checked out and it was not one that was affected by the recall.

I think so...my letter was specific to the point of saying it needs to be check again even if it was already checked. I will let you know what happens after this Sat. I have an appointment to get it checked...Maybe they have to replace the whole assembly?...they better give me the new TL as a loaner...haha.

I had to go back because the SRS light came back on. Sensor went bad on the other side (they only replaced one the first time i went in).

Only specific VINs were included in this recall. If you didn't get the letter, your car isn't affected.

You can always just call a dealership and ask them to check your VIN to see if it's included in the recall.

My car is included because I recieved an automated call from Acura saying that my car is included and the call said I should recieve a letter but it never came.

Then just call the dealership. They can look it up for you and get you scheduled.

I already know I'm included but I'm getting different stories as to what needs to be done from the dealer on what needs to be done so I wanted to see if what the letter says clarifies it.

I just got my car back...looks like its just another bolt replacement. I guess the first bolt they put in was still not heavy duty enough during the first recall. But hey...I got a free car wash and car inspection...they even checked my battery and all the fluids and topped it off...Can't complain about that.

I should also mentioned that the service person that talked to me mentioned that this was more of an inspection of the airbags serial number. Many assumptions could be made on that gesture but probably just wanted to double check to make sure the air bags were not one of the faulty ones. The good news about all this is generally air bags need to be inspected every ten years or so anyways....At least they inspected mine now.
