27,000 miles...new clutch and tranny

so i go to acura on sat. for a strange sound at 2700 and 3400rpm. tech couldn't reproduce the sound, so i took the tech for a ride, we get back to the dealership, service rep comes out and says we will call you in a week when the NEW TRANNY!!! and the NEW CLUTCH!!! comes in... said he'll give me the 04 tl to tool around in....sweeeeeeeeet.

any 6 speeders out there with a strange kinda whistle sound comin' out of the engine, time for a new tranny!!!

I really don't think your tranny is bad. Sounds to me the techs don't know anything & are just thowing parts at it. I'm suprised in fact they are even suggesting a new tranny. I wonder how they will justify that warranty work to Acura.

Drove the CLS six-speed...

...but ended up with 5-speed Solara (which is about .7(CLS).....
Amazing....it's almost maintenance-free..... for those of us who'd rather buy rental property than auto parts....ez

Eh I'd rather not buy an ugly, soulless car which is all Toyota seems to make these days.

And a new trans and clutch for a whistle noise sounds like a case of knowledge-less techs.

Had 15k on my first 6 speed, not a hint of problems with the clutch, 8500k on my 2nd 6 speed, seems just like the furst, if not better.

He isn't buying auto parts though because they are WARRANTIED! That and the CLS is just easier on the eyes and more fun to drive.

I sure hope this was a fluke. BTW - how were you driving your car prior to this tranny/clutch failure?

Also, please keep us up to date with any info? thanks...
