The largest tires I've seen are 235/35/19 (blxmjx) and 235/40/18 (langjae). Both cars are lowered and both claim no rubbing. Do a search for tirerubbing topics. There is tons of info and debates on tires.

With a 1" drop you should be safe for both sizes. Just make sure you have a proper off set wheel and have the tire shop test fit the combo first.

Type-S dragon,

you get the wrong tire size.

Get 235/40/18 not the 215/40/18!

how about getting 225-40-18 ? will that still be a good comfortable ride?

plus, will the size of all those tires/rims rub at all agains the comptech springs?

There was "someone" who came and went who claimed they were running some 245 S-02s.

This was a while ago...

I never even checked-up on whether the size was available or not. Now that they are going with the S-03, it would be hard to tell, with the older tire line getting "thinned-out"..

I'm starting to wonder if the person who said they rub in the front with their 235/45-17s with SSRs (and Comptech springs) is not telling the whole story.

Perhaps the H&R or other lowering springs make a difference, since there now seen to be some responses that seem to say that they work ok.

BTW -- there can't be that much difference between a 17x8 +48 and 18x8 +50 (with the 235 rubber). Although, every tire has a different contact and section width for a given size...

Have you ever filled-up the car with people. The person who first said they didn't rub, changed their story when they filled the car up. Just asking...

Hello :-)

I was the 'someone' who claimed to run 245's

I'm running:

Bridgestone Potenza PolePosition S-02

245/40/18ZR

they NEVER rube in the front... and have made a HUGE performance increase on take offs. But in the back if I have passengers in the back and going faster then usual on street bumps it rubs :-/

My next plan is to get 255's in the front and put 235's in the back... don't know or may just stay with 245's in front and 235's for back... but I'm keeping the 245's at the front... I'd NEVER go back :-D

But are you lowered, and if yes, what spring(s)?

And what are the wheel specs (offset, width, etc)?

I have the same questions as EricL. Are you lowered? If yes, what springs and what's the drop? Wheel specs (offset, width, etc)?

Thanks...

i really apperciate all the responses,...i was wondering if any of you have the h&r oe springs w/ 18" rims?...i'm still getting mixed feelings, i really want the extra rubber, but not at the risk of rubbing. from what i read, 235's fit for sure i assume...? thanks.
oh also, if i plan to use a 245 should i go with a high offset(50mm) or lower like 40mm

You want 50, not 40. You want to be as close to the stock offset as possible. I think +48 is the lowest "recommended" but I know some people have done +45, but they rub I think...

they told me that the offset for the rims is 42. and i really dont know what everything means. but i need help on which tire to get on my 18x7.5 rims without rubbing. thanks

Well definitely do not go with 215/40/18's as your odometer will be way off and don't do the 215/45/18 not only cuz your odometer will stay be way off but because you should go with a wider tire if you want better performance.. lotsa people have 225/40/18's and they are ok but again the odometer issue .. 225/45/18 is what tirerack.com recommends and again the odometer is off by 2%.. 235/40/18's are the closest to stock in terms of odometer readings and revs/mile and I would probably go with those

No I'm not lowered
All I know is that the tires are:

245/40/18 don't know about offsets etc

the RIMS are

Ace Spade HyperBlack 18"
Bridgestone Potenza PolePosition S-02
