2020 Airbag recall - 2001 CL
It's been a while. I just received a letter from Acura about a recall for the driver frontal airbag inflator for my 2001 CL-S. So, first, you should check www.recalls.acura.com to see if yours is affected.
Second, this is a little silly but for those that have had their 2003 airbag replaced, what all did they replace? Specifically, did they replace the leather-ish steering wheel cover too? The part that you mash to honk the horn that has the Acura "A" on it. I ask because I have always been jealous of the 2003's chrome "A" versus the 2001's same-color-as-the-leather "A". Silly, I know, but did I just get a bit lucky? This suggests that it is all one piece: Acura OEM Parts - airbag assembly
In addition to the snazzier "A", I won't miss my current steering wheel cover because it got tacky/sticky a few summers ago. It's not sticky now, but the lint that got stuck in it is still stuck in it.
Thanks
P.S. ~154K miles on her. Had to replace the power steering pump because it cracked near the high-pressure hose. Other than a slow oil drip, she still runs and looks great.
