2005 Subaru WRX

Well my friend just got a brand new Subby after upgrading from his somewhat ricey Golf. Well I gotta say this car made me envious as hell. I wanted to scrap my TL and go for one. Anyways, of course we were going to race, so we went to a cleared private two lane to test it out. I've got a 50 shot of nitrous in my TL and the first time we raced he beat me by a car length. I was kinda baffled, because I was expecting to win by a good bit. Well, I figured out me being a dumbass I didn't switch the wide open throttle switch. I was about to start pulling tons of excuses out of my ass. "that awd works wonders", "you got a head start"(which he somewhat did). Anyways we had a rematch. This time I remembered to hit the switch. Right off of the line I got a good lead and kept it the whole way. Hit 90 and had a good 5-6 car lead. If there were any types of turns though he woulda raped me because that cars handling is amazing.

On another not raced a riced Ford Poon-Tang. Had 3 people in the car to watch the kid get humiliated. Wasn't even a race. A riced muscle car is a disgrace.

That was from my prespective. He drives a stick, so I definitly think it was him that time and not the car, but the 50 shot made an enormous difference.

Mantis, you should try some Nitrous. It'd make your car a lot faster.

Your TL can't possibly be stock.....what other mods do you have, cause a 50 shot wouldn't be enough for you to take a WRX otherwise....unless the guy can't drive a 5spd. 5-6 car lengths seems quite excessive too.

well, a 5 car lead at 90mph means your about 0.6 seconds faster. considering your fwd got the jump on a awd WRX, my guess is he's not a very good driver.

Wrx isnt that fast, unless its the sti. My friend has a WRX, and when we raced, he can only beat me thru 2nd, when i hit 3rd, i start to catch up.

Either you've got some mods or he's letting up. WRXs are quick......STIs are insane.

i dont know what you have a tl, tls, or new tl. but if a tl-s or new tl i see no reason why you couldnt have kept up to a stock wrx. with the 50 shot you should have beat him. an STI or even the LGT is a diff story.

Should we be able to keep up with an STi from a roll with an Icebox and Headers or would they walk away from us?

wrx??

i dunno now, me and this wrx were getting off an on ramp onto the highway and he was riding my tail and i heard his fart pipe all the way down the ramp, so i slowed to around 30-40, put it in the sport shift, dropped it down to 2nd and cought out on his ass he eventually cought me but it was around 125-130mph well after a quarter mile, and i am all stock

nice kill..

The stock WRX would not be as quick as a TypeS CL from a roll on highway race. They are much better suited to short sprint time runs where a quick burst is needed.

I can run a test....I have an 01 CL-S, only mods are icebox and comptech headers. My cousin has an 04 STi, bone stock. We've never raced, mainly cause I don't want to lose (up until about a year ago, I was driving a Z28 and he was driving a Civic EX, so I used to pick on him alot, but now the tables have turned big time). I'll see if we can't run an experiment to see if/how a lightly modded CL-S keeps up with an STi.

You also have to keep in mind that the STi is lighter and that thing takes off like a rocket. By the time you lightly modded CL-S kicks in he has stopped and made a call on the cell telling all the boys

I'm curious as well...how would a race against an Evo/STI go from a roll. We all know from a dig we'd get our asses handed to us. But for me for example, I've got I/H, and I was curious if I could stay w/ one from a roll, particularly on the hwy??

i believe most sti/evo trap around 102-103+
what does your car trap? i've trapped 100 a couple of times so they'd definitely walk me.

you'd get your ass handed to you.

so even from a roll they'd kick our ass huh? I thought it would be much closer due to the fact that the AWD won't help in the situation. Don't get me wrong guys, I figured I'd still lose, just not by much from a roll.

Sorry, I don't know much about trap speeds and such. Thanks for clearing that up for me though, mattg.
