What do you guys think about this car? My friend just got this car (6-speed) and lowered it and changed the wheels. He thinks he can beat me now. I think he's . The car weighs a little over 3000lbs (around 3023 I think) pushing 181hp & 177lb-ft. Just by weight to power ratio, I don't think it will happen.

I was impressed by the styling of this car and the available 6spd. However, it needs more oomph in the engine compartment to really be a competitor.

The new Tiburon should do low 7's , and previous models do 8 flat or something.. so bull shit to all you who say their 3.0 can beat it with ease

I have the new sportcompastcar here and it says the 2003 tiburon does 0-60 in 7.6 seconds and the 1/4 mile at 15.6sec. @ 88.8 mph. I hope you can beat that.

I don't know what kinda Tiberon you raced...but I beat the shit outta them everytime I raced one...even when I was stock.

Funny how u'd got chances to race a car many times that's been out there for very short period of time.
Here we're reffering to the 'NEW' 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6, not those ones with 130 something hp and gigantic wing.
It's a totally different car from previous ones. I'm not saying that previous ones r that bad.. they r fairly quick for that kind of hp it's got (only manuals). i know cuz I drove them many times.

And LOL, u want real mods on CL? No thx, maybe springs and wheels to show off. i'd take out my dad's GS4 if i feel like to kick some ass..

Tiberons still suck. Bring on the new ones. I've raced alot of those rice rocket ones with the giant wings. I doubt the new ones will give me any resistance. As for kicking some ass, the CL is not a big ass kicker...But I still refuse to lose to a damn Tiberon. His shit better have forced induction or nos.

The new one's gonna give us (3.0) a good run if not beating us stock to stock. I wonder if u did any search before u stated urs. I understand that u hate to admit our CL is on par, if not worse, with a Hyundai in terms of performance. But ride on one of their recent product, and you will soon change ur mind. At least, i'm not bull shitting without even riding one of those.

Wow I hate to get in the middle of this but here's my 2...

I guess the Tiberon is a good sports car if thats all you can afford. Its not really that fast and, yes, it looks a whole hell of a lot better than 01 or 02, but that's not saying much. Not to mention it's a Hyundai and 10 year warranty or not, it's still a Hyundai. I think Hyundai was going for a more sportier look and feel rather than a rocket. And remember if you're comparing stock to stock with your CL, that's over a five year difference, not really fair. That said I would still put my $ on the 3.0 CL for a couple reasons. First I highly doubt many people will be hitting the same numbers from SCC and second, it's a frickin Hyundai!!!! (as you can tell I'm a little bias against Hyundai )

Oh yeah and ziV, I know you're new here so I don't want rib you too much but come on, bragging about driving your daddy's car around to kick some ass...

Ok, I did some search last night and found out that the new one can do high 14's stock, given a skilled driver. Come on people, it's not about fairness. Tiburon is made on different purpose from our CL. It's to compete ones like Celica, RSX..etc Why is it so hard to admit what a Hyundai can do.

By the way, there was one guy with tiburon who runs mid 10's quarter mile. And there r simply so much more performance parts for Tiburons then our CL. So about hitting some numbers for $, that Tiburon obviously is better at. Once again, it's made for different purpose from ours.

Thanks for the posts everyone, but I resolved the issue tonight. 3 light to light race, got up to about 60 for the most part, and I won all 3 times easily. See sig for my mods while he had the 6-speed, KN intake, exhaust, springs, and RH 17" wheels.

There is no way these cars run high 14s stock. Stock ones probably run low-mid 7s 0-60 (7.3 as best I've found someone post on a Tiburon forum) which would put them around mid 15s in the quarter. This would match closely to stock 6th gen AV6s.

After our race, we switched cars and I drove the Tiburon while he drove my Type-S. Again, all I can see were my CL beautiful tail-lights.

Oh and, the 10sec (10.96) Tiburon is pushing 627whp, but with 2 engines.
