2003 CLS 6mt comptech supercharger

I am in the market for one for my CLS. I have all the bolt ons now and want more power. I have done some searching but now I want to hear it. What has owning it been like. Gas milage? maintinance etc? Where is the best deal? What did you pay? who got the best deal? While we are talking about it, anyone have a used one they want to get rid of?

thanks,
jim

From what I've read ,a standard SC'er setup with the regular pulley is maintenance free & should last the life of the car.
Once you get into the HBP & intercooler etc, things get a bit more complex & there's lots to watch out for.
I'm considering it myself & I'm only going for the standard setup because of the maintenance & know I shouldn't have to watch things like boost, or fuel or get tuned.
The basic setup is plug & play. Nothing else but the battery needed.

I don't personally have one but from all the reviews I have read they are pretty much maintenance free other than cleaning the air filter. At about 70k the blower does need some maintenance and I believe that involves replacing the lubricant/oil inside the blower.

Jim, if you need a new one shoot me a PM. I will give you a good price.

For the most part, you're correct. I've noticed additional tire and brake wear due to the SC though.

Mileage on a cruise remains good. MPG will take a dump when you really get into the throttle regularly though.

For the most part, it's a very reliable system. I upgraded my battery tray so I wasn't stuck with the 51R battery. I would upgrade or relocate to the trunk if you have the opportunity.

allot of good reviews. None negative? Not to knock it, but I've seen many threads with problems, or are they all associated with the upgrades in PSI and pulleys?

From what I got when I searched it was because of the upgrades. The standard setup's had a few small problems because the wire connections were not secure to the ECU, or there was other outside things wrong like plugs or a bad coil.

I had problems but I'm runningthe HBP and Having a faulty ESM. I think I got a bad tank of gas one time and I was throwing CELs but after getting another tank idling went away. Idles and drives fine now and I just disconnected the IMRC but can tell I lost a bit of power.

Only problem I'm having now is traction and clutch slip D=

From what I have read, there haven't been many complaints. A couple guys who bought the kits second hand had something wrong with the ESM. The only other issues that arose were when guys went to the HBP or had trouble with fuel management (the E-Manage) and getting everything tuned.

Original ESM installations were using crimp on connectors. If done correctly, crimp on can work but the preferred method is solder in the ESM. Comptech switched to solder type connectors around 2 1/2 years ago.

it's stand for v 6 performance.net ( v 6 p.net) just put them all together. the mods bloked that site, that's why i can't provide you the link...

just go under "for sale" and look for the thread "Parting Out my 2000 Honda Accord v6"

On normal commutes, my gas mileage has been pretty much the same. Flog it around and mileage will go down drastically. I've gotten it down to almost 200 miles on one tank once.

Some people have had problems with their fuel pressure regular. My FPR starting losing pressure so I rebuilt it a few weeks ago and everything is back to normal. I only remember reading one post about a bad/defective ESM. Most of the other ESM problems were due to bad connections/miscalibrations.

Overall the car is a blast to drive but it does make me wish that our cars were rwd. If I roll in 1st gear and mash the gas, it'll break traction when it hits VTEC. Maybe my tires just suck. Performance on the freeway is great and you'll hit triple digit speeds in no time.

I'm hooked and my next car must have >300 hp or it'll be too slow.

If it's off an Accord there will be a number of items you need to switch out. I believe the elbow, some brackets and some other pieces too.
