Question 2003 CL Type S - Please help

I'm looking into the CL Type S, I've read the FAQ, it answered a lot of my questions, but I still have a few remaining.

I plan on driving it all year round, so does this car usually have rust issues like Accord's per say? (rear quarter panels)

Also, I currently have an RSX Type S, I've seen a CL-S do 14 flat on the quarter mile, which in the FAQ says it runs 15s, so I'm a bit confused on what times an average one would do.

The plan for the car is the following:
- CAI (AEM)
- Rims (18" Racing Hart)
- Suspension (1.5" drop max - is there a coil over kit, or Koni Yellows + Springs is my only option?)
- Skirt Kit (which it says theirs not that many options)
- Tints (35%)
- Panasonic Head Unit (if that's even possible)

and that's pretty much it.

The car in question is an 03 CL-S, between 50-75000 Miles.

the goal is to make the car look like the pictures below, but I want it to be as fast as my RSX-S. (it's neck and neck with a 300C on the highway )

Thanks in advance for the help everyone!

Also, I want the car to last the next 3 years. Reason why I'm debating on this car, is because my search for an Integra Type R became close to impossible to find a clean one, so this is plan b.

Thanks again

The goal is something along the lines of this:

well first of all, both vehicles on your pictures are either 01-02 so if you plan on getting 03 CL-S you would need to swap rear and front lights, door handles just to start off. And yes you can get aftermarket headunit in there.

The 6MT CLS runs mid-hi 14's bone stock with traction. The 15's you see are for auto's. There's a few 6MT cars that with good drivers & good traction & being factory freaks that can do low 14's.
You should not have any major problems with the 6MT CLS. There's a few minor problems that are covered in the FAQ.
Also be warned, this is not the same type of car class as an RSX or Integra. It's a way different car. It won't handle as well, or be as many mods available for it.

To me the CLS is not the closest thing to an Integra Type R. This'll feel like a boat.
Have you driven the CLS? I love my CLS 6MT but it was my first choice.

Do the lights swap easily, or I need to change the hood, bumper, fenders as well like on Civic's?

How fast is the CL-S on the highway? Or it doesn't move?

I've driven one 3 years ago, I'd have to go back and test drive one soon, cause I forgot that feeling real quick.

Dont forget the Rear Sway bar. Just having that alone will make the car more neutral on turns.

Hw speed is fine. It will out run most anything. It's a fast car without the fast looks.

For Reference, here's what my '03 CL currently looks like (mainly so you can see the lights, drop, etc)

Now as far as mods go...to get it to where you want it, I'd definitely at least get headers. Performance wise, it definitely wakes up our engines and the headers add close to 30hp. As far as highway driving goes, it keeps up with most cars on the road (it can definitely handle it's own). I've run with a few Mustang GTs and a WS6 Trans Am w/ mine on the highway to give you an idea.

Driving the car all year round shouldn't be a problem, but you might want to consider getting a beater so you don't have to worry about it.

All in all, Good luck with the purchase, they're Great Cars!

03silvertypeS the 03 front/rear is even nicer lol

Do you beat the GT's at least? Cause I step all over those cars lol (were you talking about a STOCK CL-S? or yours as it is right now?)

And I saw the price of the header, $1300, that's a lot for a Header!

I have an Accord right now as a beater, but I would drive the CL-S all year round, assuming it doesn't have any rust issues.

The GTs aren't a problem as long as they're stock, i definitely surprised this one near pittsburgh on the parkway. He got a jump on me because of traffic, but as soon as I was in the clear I was reeling him in.

As far as headers prices go, they're a little pricey, but if you can find them used in the Black Market, that's definitely the way to go

In the black market lol!

I'm gonna talk to my folks about the CL-S tonight, see what they think about it. Cause with ~290hp and ~235 torque, I'm guessing it should be faster than my rsx-s.

I already got the rims for it, I'll use my old ones.
I got to looking into the skirt kit and suspension now.

Thanks again 03silvertypeS

That's 260HP, not 290
And stock for stock a 6MT CLS will kill a RSX-S

The goal is something along the lines of this:

The first picture, the white CL i believe has the TL body kit. That includes alot of fabrication to make it fit, so forget that. The second is the Ron Jon body kit which is the most common used kit for the CL.

As far as headers go, you can get headers off of ebay called XS power headers for about $150. Search for 'acura cl headers'.

How much should I expect to pay for the body kit on the Silver CL-S?

Nevermind, I found the site for the kit.

Is there a way to fix the exhaust problem though? It looks too pushed in with that kit...

That is the Versus (sp?) Kit, not the TL kit. The big open hole is a dead givaway.

So is that kit hard to get or not?

Cause i like the Versus kit A LOT more than the Ron Jon front lip.

Anyone have pics of the FULL Lip Kit from Versus? or they just make a front lip?

Thanks!

That is the full kit on the white car I belive.

The RJ kit is the best looking kit for a CL IMHO.

If I rem. correctly, from past dynos...you probably barely pushing 250 to the wheels with headers and intake on a 6-spd.

For the RJ kit, I don't like the front much... the CL is already curving in, then you add the lip and it extrudes out....
