2003 CL Seat in a 2001 CL PLEASE HELP!

I am having a nightmare of a situation. The dealer quoted me almost $600 to replace my drivers side heated seat. I thought I would save some money & buy a used seat on eBay. I had to drive 6 hours each way to get it & now find that the 2003 CL seat harness doesn't match up with my 2001 car.

From what I can tell, the 2003 seat harness is larger and has 2 more wires.

What do you think my options are at this point? I called the dealership and I can't get just the parts to make a converter.

Any ideas?? I'm not a mechanic & I'm not even positive that the 03's heated seat works, as the seller lied about so much that I should have never done the deal to begin with! (So I really don't want to trash my working seat to get the harness out to put in the 03 seat.)

sorry, you are replacing your seat because the heating element broke???

Cause it sound like you are inferring that you have a working seat but the heater is broken. plz correct me if i am wrong

but if that is the case, it has happened to many people and you can open up ur 01 seat and simply solder a new wire onto the heater coil inside ur existing seat. And you should never have that problem again.

It's a problem known to happen on these cars too.

As for the seat actually having more wires, I am not familiar enough to state a valid opinion on it.

I thought it would be easier to replace the seat & I would get a seat that is in better condition.

I called the dealership & they had no answer for me. My answer came to me by comparing the parts numbers of the 2001 seats to that of the 2003. Wouldn't you know it... they are EXACTLY the same except for 2 parts (the wiring harness and the MSC Unit, which I guess stand for the Memory Seat Control Unit.)

At this point, I'm going to swap out those two parts (to make the seat a 2001-2002 compatible seat) and hope for the best. I still have no clue if the heater element in the new seats even work!

CL-S progression 01: Thanks for the input. Fixing my 01 seat elements is plan B.

From what I've read, some time after 2001, they came out with a more reliable seat element, so I'm hoping the 2003 seat will be something that will work for me for a long time to come!

Is there anyone here with a 2003 CL that has had a failure on the Driver's side Heated Seat?

I'd just sell the CL seat bro to someone you dunno or care about (u gotta cut ur losses) regardless

You didn't know this info so it's way more $ effective to take a 1/2 day and spend some time getting to know ur ride.

Then u don't have to swap this and that and blah blah...

it's one friggin wire.

try and make some $ off ur seat... fix urs in the mean time and hold onto yours till u get what u want..

OR hook that BABY UP in front of ur TV for GAMING...

heated AND power seat for ur Xbox 360..

boy u'd be a one of a KIND :-) BALLIN

I haven't. But I don't use them. I maybe used them 3 times. No need for them in South FL.
