2003 CL-S vs 2002 Maxima?

From a stop he will probably get a 1/2 car or so but you'll gain it back by the end of the race. It really is a drivers race. I pulled a 14.9 out of my gf's 100% bone stock 03 Maxima SE auto. Some people have hit 14.7's stock. If your wheels arent heavier than stock that shouldnt hurt you much at all.

you're probably right about the years. It has been a while since I owned my Max.Any way you cut it, stock for stock, the Max and CL are going to be close in a 1/4 race. From a stop, and with equally good launches, the greater winning percentage is on the Maxima mostly because of the tourque curve and curb weight ratio.
As far as wheel weights are concerned, it's not just the overall wheel weight that matters but the extra weight placed at a larger distance from the axis that will require greater force to overcome the inertia of rest. So, it will have an impact, but the exact accelaration hit you take may not be enough for you to notice.
I thought all max autos were 4-speed until the recent redesign. auto vs auto I think the CLS will edge it out from a roll or a dig...not by much and I agree that its a driver's race. Whoever gets out of the hole first wins period (from a roll or dig).
oh and jtkz, I knew you meant to the wheels from "put down". Does that mean I am in the know??? yah!

Stock 6 speed Maxima's put down about 210hp/220tq.

I posted that because making excuses about our lack of .3L compared to the VQ is lame, imo. And a VQ35 with all the mods that Type R's has would probably be close to that amount of power also.
The 19's will slow you down.. just have a good start. My CL-S is completely stock and I race a 2003 maxima 6speed stock (my friend's ride also) and I would beat him everytime. At least a car in front of him at 75 mph

I still say stock for stock a 6spd CLS/ 04 6spd TL and 6 spd 02-04 Max are a good match and auto for auto the same, for a driver in auto version of either to claim they beat a manual version the 6spd driver has to suck sorry to say. The numbers are to close in both trannies of both cars to say otherwise.

i'm also waiting for the UR pulleys, heard great things about them. hopefully they'll allow you to own that maxi

Yeh I need new rotors, my braking is horrible especially now that I have 19's! How much are getting your UR pulley's for?!
Just remember this; The farther you place weight away from the axis, the more effort there will be required to turn the weight. This includes rotors. So, if you are going bigger with your rotors, you will only increase the amount errort needed to rotate the wheels, and directly impact your acceleration.
Now, there are those who feel that their larger wheels, rotors, etc... gave them better 1/4 mile times. This is usually because they were less likely to spin at launch and dramatically decreased their 60' time.
So, if you're going to run a 1/4 mile, and you are usually poor at launching your car, the wheels and rotors may help you. If you are good at launching and plan to run for more than 1/4 mile, the extra rotational mass will only hurt your times.

if anything getting better tires, or those drag setups where they put these poles on the back bumper of the car to jack the rear of the car up to put extra weight on the front wheels for FWD drag car launches make much more sense than getting increasing your rotational mass...

It'd be kinda like a due North version of Tokyo Extreme Racing
