driver's race. whoever gets the best launch will win. since u got 19s that mite be the difference in u losing. me and my friends 02 max ran almost identical 14.9s about 3 times in the 1/4mile /w similarly equipped mods.

 

yeah, I hope I win...only thing that gets me is... how come our car weighs more than the maxima even though the maxima is a fourdoor sedan?

 

Maxima = Plastic

Acura = not plastic

 

pretty much the maxima is made of lighter materials than the acura

 

I'll give the Maxima the edge at the 1/4 (torque) but from a roll the gearing of the CLS will pull away until 110. After that the Maxima will pull back ahead if the race goes to those speeds. I know from experience well with a TLS.

 

oh I thought the CLS would have an advantage over the maxima at the high speedss...

 

having had the experience of driving a new maxima for a few days I can say that the torque is incredible. but they really don't go any faster than a CLS when it comes down to it. like blubyu2k2 said ... after you get rolling you'll pull on the maxima.

 

Blubyu, I'm surprised you didn't pick up on this:

2k-2k2: vq30de-k engine = 222hp (Aniversary edition was promoted around 227hp)
2k3-2k4: vq35de engine - 255hp (most believe manufacture over hyped hp numbers)

1. If your buddy has a 2k2, he's only got 222hp
2. Either way, the HP/weight TQ weight ratio and total power under the curve puts the Maxima's numbers in a better spot than the CL, but they are so close that a driver can make or break the race from either car.

 

Maxima initially CLS come back for while but once the CLS gets in that dreaded 3rd gear Max ahead again. CLS's donot pull to hard in 3rd gear whereas 02+ Maximas pull hard. Drivers race is the bottom line I dont care what anyone says, been there done that.

 

I'll try my best...maybe I can get a tranny cooler kit, b3fore we race, if my paychecks are large enough :-D keep my shifting smoother and faster...

you should be able to take him, gate shift and turn off VSA, your rims will hold you back a lot though.

maxima is a 4 speed auto if im not mistaken..

02/03 = 255hp/250tq (actually more like 245hp/260tq)

From a stop he will probably get a 1/2 car or so but you'll gain it back by the end of the race. It really is a drivers race. I pulled a 14.9 out of my gf's 100% bone stock 03 Maxima SE auto. Some people have hit 14.7's stock. If your wheels arent heavier than stock that shouldnt hurt you much at all.

 

damn that torque in the Maxima is pretty high...

Who cares, its only .3L. Plus the J32 has better gearing & more high rpm hp, so its a draw.

Stock 6 speed Maxima's put down about 210hp/220tq.

 

I think its a bit more than 210 stock...

 

Ummm, no. And actually the more common number for the 6 speed is 205whp/220tq. The auto's are like 195whp/210tq.

I have a friend that knows one of the managers there...and he said we can go there when its empty...

If we dont get a chance there, than mayb on I-675...

 

I said they PUT DOWN 210hp/220tq. Most people "in the know" would realize I meant whp.

And I did some searching and it seems that 210 whp is actually a little optimistic. Its closer to 205.

 

Just remember, with only an AEM intake, you're only PUTTING DOWN around 200whp in a CL-S. Get headers and an auto Maxima won't be able to hang. Watch out for the manny-tranny though...

 

are you guys sitting here and telling me a stock 02 max auto will be an 01 cls? like theres without a doubt? I think stock for stock the cl-s should edge it out, given equal drivers, but definitely not by much. I also feel the 6mt is a better race, with the max prolly edging out over the cl-s. The new Max's, however, I've got no idea.

 

equal drivers.. with similar HP.. both fwd... both heavy.... the only difference is the Torque....
