2003 or 2004 cl type s

I have been reading this site for about a month now, since I decided to buy a 2003 cl type s. Recent messages talk about a new body style and possible engine/horsepower changes for the 2004 cl type s. A local salesman confirmed the changes. I am trying to have my cake and eat it too. If I like the 2004 cl type s then I can wait to buy it but if I don't like it I want to buy a 2003 cl type s. Does anyone have any pictures or solid info on the 2004 changes? Thanks for helping me out.

There is no solid info on the 2004 model year. The only thing we are solid on right now for this coming year is the TSX (unveiled earlier this month). But Acura has not officially said anything about the TL or CL. The rumor is that one or both are going to be redesigned soon. My dealer is saying the TL this year and possibly the CL the following year. But it has been well established on this forum that the dealers don't really have inside information. They know no more than us.

The salesman said there will be a 2004 model but that he wouldn't have any info until right before it came out.

True. I knew at least as much as the salesman from surfing the net.

Unfortunately, just like anything else on upcoming models, that's a rumor. Nothing is certain until there's a press release from Acura...which hasn't happened yet.

In my opinion, I think the 2003 will roll over to 2004 unrevised this coming March. Maybe...a new CL will roll off next fall as a 2005 model. Crap shoot!

You mean fall of 2004 as a 2005 model...right?

You're right, it's a Crap shoot. No matter the source, it's just a rumor until it comes directly from Acura.

The 2004 TL will be a redesign, so the CL will be next (if they keep it in the line up). Since the CL is in the 3rd year of the 5 year cycle (Honda/Acura design all their cars around the 5 year cycle, the exception being the 8 year run of the last integra), the CL should be around for another couple of years (2005??).

The 5 year cycle usually goes like this:

1st year - redesign (i.e. 2001 CL)
2nd year - same as the first
3rd year - minor reskin (i.e. 2003 headlights, taillights, driving light delete, 6spd tranny added).
4th year - same as the 3rd
5th year - more of the same
redesign for the next generation

The temple of vtec has a neat new model matrix here:

http://www.vtec.net/modelmatrix/

Who knows if the CL will make it to the next generation (3rd gen)

Don't forget the last generation CL only lasted 3 model years. So...like greenmonster said, who knows.

No disrespect, but the salesman will be the last to know anything about the 2004 models. Acura/Honda are very secretive about their infomation.
