Hey guys I'm sure this has been asked before but I really need your help. For the past 2 months or so it feels like my tranny has been slipping going into 2nd gear, yesterday my cel came on and it showed an open torque converter clutch solenoid circuit code.
Can anyone help me out on this?
Car is an 02 with 72,000 miles. Thanks!!

if it says the switch is stuck open then if ur lucky it actually is stuck open and replacing it will fix ur problem.
if it is just a solenoid note that you fall in the 3% of people who actually have a normal transmission problem..
usually the trans fails from the 2-3 upshift thats how mine went BOTH times.. and i never got that code... i got torque converter lockup code or something like that i cannot exactly remember.
but remember the sensore are quite reliable and it's more likely than not just shitting out that code because something mechanical is wrong with the transmission... but you won't know until you actually try to fix the code by replacing the solenoid..
so u gotta spend the monies on the solenoid keep your fingers doublecrossed and hopefully it will fix you up.
but like i said the odds are not in your favor of it being a simple solenoid fix.
and P.S you got the ol.. "your trans is fucked.. welcome to azine because 97% of the time that's the short and accurate answer" lol
i'm on trans 3, i'm sure there are a couple dozen others in my shoes as well, so hope is not something we automatic CLers have unfortunately..
so try and fix the solenoid and get back to us chief
