Hey All,

I recently got my CL-S and have 900 miles on it. No problems yet (hope I didn't just jinx myself) but there is one think I did notice which I am unsure about.

If I am in SS and on a straight-away with my foot off the gas, my car naturally slows down. Because I am in SS, I can view on my dash board the gear my car is in. Sometimes, I notice that my car automatically downshifts from 5th, to 4th, to 3rd, then straight to 1st. It seems to skip 2nd gear. Is this normal? There's no weird sound or jerking. Just something I noticed as a new CL-S owner who is paying close attention to everything the car is doing.

Sounds normal to me, the car, even in SS will automatically downshift if your RPMs are too low for the current gear. It does the same thing on mine once in a while. No biggie, you should be fine!!

At what speed does it go into first. Also, have you counted the shift points to make sure it doesn't have the lamp wiring crossed? Try putting it into first with the stick (not ss mode) and see what light comes on.

thats normal. AT the beginning, i always forget i was in SS and forget to downshift when im slowing down, but it does all the downshifting for u automaticlly.

He had contacted me off of the board and told me it's usually 15mph or under. This seems normal to me. The computer sense that the car is coming to a stop and makes the shift right to first, which is actually smoother then going from 2 to 1. I usually let the computer do that shift for me too. Try going about 10 to 15 mph in 3, then go to 2 before you stop... you'll feel the jerk. That's why the computer doesn't hit 2 and goes straight to one.

Yep, you are correct...sounds about right. I hadn't paid much attention to mine until last night. Does the same thing.
