My uncle just found someone selling 2001 CLS with 143000 miles on sale for $4700. There are some very very minor dent on the front bumper.. everything else looks alright. Is there any known problems I should consider? Is there any known transmission problem? Engine problem??

transmission problem is known for 2 Gen TL/CL i wouldn't buy CL with that milage in auto trans better find an 2003 and 6 speed manual its way better

 

his budget is kind of low.. and he's not particularly looking for CL either..
he just happened to run into sale for CLS

if he's gonna buy the car, make sure the tranny shifts perfect, i mean smoothly. and make sure the 105k service has been done already.

 

Even if the transmission shifts fine that does not mean anything..
I had a new tranny put in at 100K miles and at 168k miles all my lights came on tranny code didnt shift bad or anything, actully shifted very smooth and the fluid in this tranny was changed every 20K and on the way to the dlr it started bucking and going crazy.. NEW tranny time.. Acura said they will cover 10% so my bill is going to be $4100 + tax..

So moral of the story is even if the tranny shifts 100% GREAT it can die tommorrow w/o warning!
