2001 CL-S SRS Light!!

I've read a lot about this, and the idea is that it's covered by warranty and take it back to the dealer. However, my car has a salvage title and even though it's with in the time/mileage, probably not covered. I've go the SRS light on and the mechanic says it's the passenger seat belt. First is there some way to read the codes other than with a scan tool? Is there a way to verify if its the buckle or the retractor? Is there a way to repair without replacing? I will try resetting using the instructions I've found, but reading in the forum it appears this is a common problem that will require repair/replacement. Thanks for your help!

I just had this done yesterday. It turns out that the code I got wasn't part of the sb 06-008 but the acura dealership told me the seatbelts had a lifetime warrantee on it. So I got it fixed all for free. Only took about 30 min. Couldn't be happier.

No factory warranties exist on a reconstructed title (flood/hail/salvage) regardless of age or mileage.

Lifetime seatbelt warranty from acura still applies to salvage title cars. I have a salvage and they fixed my passenger seatbelt buckle for free. make sure thats its the buckle or else they may chage you a diagnosis fee if its something they wont cover.

you can call acura client services and they will tell you that your car is still covered by the lifetime seatbelt warranty and any recalls.

So you think they'll replace even with the salvage title? Is there anyway to verify it's the buckle before carrying to the dealer?

the way i did it was I cleared the SRS light and then you can try buckling in one at a time to find out. The instructions to clear the SRS light is in the FAQ i believe or google it.

Just don't say anything about the title. SRS and restraint system has a lifetime warranty. Take it to the dealer and they will fix it. Quick and painless.

once they type your VIN in the system, it will show up. I tried omitting my title status on the service write up

My SRS light is up to but I don't see or feel anything wrong with my passenger seatbelt, but the driver seatbelt does make a clunking noise when you pull on it lightly. Does that matter though? and does the lifetime seatbelt warranty include Canada? I'd really like to get rid of this bright red light.

So I went to my local Acura dealer in Ottawa today and they told me there's no recall and there's a 3 year warranty on seatbelts and said that it's $200 for installation and $200 for labor plus $60 for inspection... WTF

Its not a recall. Just a warranty on the srs system (sensor in the seat belt). I don't know if the warranty covers the seat belts themselves. But the light is usually because of the sensor in the seat belt. If it is a seperate issue that you are having than it may not be covered. But if its the sensor, they are full of shit and need to fix it.

Oh ok. I didn't tell them it was the sensor. I just said it was the seatbelt. Are you sure it has a lifetime warranty? Cuz even when I call, they say 3 years max.

That is what i was told. When I took mine in they knew exactly what was wrong and said they wouldn't even charge me for the diag if it turned out to be the sensor which it was. Are you in the US?

I just read some old threads and apparently it's not covered for Canada or something.

What the hell is wrong with Acura... First my tranny dies twice so first time is covered only and I have to pay full price for second. Then mirror explodes and liquid drips to center console and they said "oh, there's no liquid in these mirrors. 400 bucks please" then the stupid SRS goes on and they want another $460 just to fix the damn thing even though its a safety hazard and apparently the airbags won't deploy if the SRS light is on...

I think I'm about to end my Acura's life soon. I just can't take all these problems and cost to fix them.

Oh and also. To top it off. The airbag light goes on once a while when the passenger leans to the right or something.

Side airbag light is normal if the passenger leans, its to prevent the bag from going off if a child is in the seat.

Yeah it keeps it from hurting you if your leaning on the door. Normal.

Oh ok then. I guess If I want to fix the SRS light I'll have to pay the cost... $400 is so damn steep though.
