Is the key really security chipped? I never heard anything about the key being chipped for security from any of the dealers that I went to before buying my car, I only heard about it here. I cant see any hint of it on my key either.

When you first put your key in the ignition and turn it on, on your dashboard you'll see a blinking key in the upper right hand guage cluster. That is the indication that the security chip has been accepted and what not.

this is why if u have a remote starter u need a blank key w/ the security chip mounted near the ignition.

if someone dupes the keys all they can do is open your doors and start the radio @ most

 

so say if you go to walmart and get a copy made it wont work?

I got a key from the dealer, it was just $25.

 

Where is the chip? In the black ACURA top?? That seems odd, JENS? as it don't even go in the ignition. I know other chipped keys that I have seen have the chip embedded in the metal KEY aprt that goes into ignition.

 

my 01 maxima key had a little blue thing flush with the key so u knew it was there

I think its somekind of a proximity thing I think you can start the car with the valet key if you have the regular key near the ignition

 

only thing that valet key cant open is glovebox and trunk(if you lock it)
